I was hoping to trash talk with 3 weeks still to go

Fantasy Pros' draft analyzer gives:
1 MattMitchell44 100
2 imadamnman 91
3 Cardinals4Life 89
4 Booooyah 88
5 Whatashame 87
6 DJ Davis 85
7 Quincy Varnish 82
8 sdaltons 80
9 Dazepster 79
10 SamTheMan 75
11 An Old Friend 70
12 Jeffrey's Official Team 70
13 Barking Lion 70
14 ggnoobs 69
15 Cool Papa Con 69
Since you asked. :D
The standings won’t look like that in September
Since the odds of that exact order are 1/15!, or about 1 in 10 trillion, I like your chances of being right about that.
I guess you practiced with Fantasy Pros mock drafts until it said you were good at this? 😂

IMO the best looking teams right now (excluding my own) are DJ Davis & Whatashame… but some of our teams are going to be very different by June, particularly mine. If that score has you convinced you don’t need to make any moves or trades… more power to ya.

Guessing handicapped on pitching. It's early yet though. Expect to turn over half my staff and a portion of the roster before the end of the season.

Plus. I have a guy that will be coming off the DL that is just like a trade. Better than a trade. Don't have to give up any assets to get him. And an Ace. They don't grow on trees you know. I like my team. Lol
Those Fantasy Pros rankings are sort of useless… you have a solid team. Could probably add another top starter, you’ll definitely want another closer, and you should put LeMahieu in a wood chipper. Otherwise, I think you stack up very well… especially for a semi-newcomer.

Rosters must be set prior to and will lock with the 1st pitch of any given day's slate of games?

If a player gets sent to the Minors and you choose to keep him he will occupy a bench spot?
It’s set so players are locked in at the time of their respective start, if they’re in your starting lineup. Benched players are not locked, but you can only move them in for non-locked players.

You can hold on to minor leaguers indefinitely, but they will use a roster spot. There is no ‘reserve’ in this league.

Please do… even though I’ve called their rankings “useless” 😂

mattmitchl44 wrote: 12 Mar 2024 12:56 pm So another question occurs to me about the waiver process.

I'm used to fantasy football where waivers get processed once a week (usually Wed.) then all available players become FAs until their next game locks on Thurs./Sat./Sun..

But how does that work here? Are waivers going to process every week on Wed. and the players become FAs until their team plays, usually later than same Wed.? So you wouldn't just be able to pick up a "FA" if you needed somebody except in a narrow time window on Wednesday?
The wait is longer now than it will be starting tomorrow.

Waivers will be processed every night for all players who are claimed, and clearing waivers. As of now, that applies to everyone. Players that are dropped by other managers take a couple of days to come off of waivers. The date they will be added to your roster (if claimed) is next to their name in the player list.

Thanks, Matt… interesting stuff. That OPS projection for my team is all wrong… AVG, I can believe it w/ Schwarber & Alonso but it still won’t be that bad.

Does it have the option to rank by 2023 stats?

Nope, it only looks to the future, not the past.
…nor does it account for adept in-season management. I had Schwarber most of last year - benched him while he was slumping. He logged an AVG about 30 points higher than his regular season, and I only missed out on 4 or 5 dingers.

If future projections were accurate, Jose Cruz Jr. would be planning a trip to Cooperstown this summer.

What are these scores supposed to reflect, and what is the scale? It can’t be total points out of 180…

It's on a percentage scale of some sort (probably on expected pts.), with #1 indexed to 100%.
I may fool around with that site. I’m accustomed to clobbering my opponents with the power of my mind, but now that they’re using performance enhancers…

Is that for standard 5x5, or can you tweak it for custom leagues?

SamTheMan wrote: 12 Mar 2024 16:29 pm The draft definitely went a little too quick for me.
I have no complaint at all but I normally have my own overall rankings and rankings by position where I cross them off while players are being drafted.
I was 5th pick overall and before I knew it right when the drafted started I was immediately on the the clock while I was trying to cross off players. So my first pick was an auto-pick   which was Tucker, which was fine, but I really thought Soto or Betts was going to be there for me.
Needless to say I gave up to crossing off names, thank god I ranked my players and got rid of Yahoo’s whacked rankings.
I had a few other auto-picks as well. I know Vladimir and Andres Jimenez were a couple of them.
It was a fun draft even though I was scrambling. I’m used to 10 team leagues and you get :90
Good luck to everyone. Will be very interesting. Not the biggest fan of my team but it could be worse.
Yeah, I don’t think it would have been much longer if I’d left the clock at 1:00. It was speedy, for sure. I managed to get about 90 players in queue that I thought would be available in my draft position before we started, so that helped.

I think you have the framework for a good team, but you might consider making some 1-for-2 trades to flesh out your roster.

mattmitchl44 wrote: 12 Mar 2024 17:08 pmI would agree with 1:00 going forward. There was only once or twice where I was thinking for a bit and then had to try to scramble to find the player I decided on on Yahoo where their order wasn't anything like mine. So the extra 15 seconds would have been handy a couple of times.
Well if you hadn’t scared everyone into thinking the draft would be 3 1/2 hours, you might have had more time 😂

I’ve considered if we could do a ‘cash’ league next year. I think we’d have fewer people, but they’d definitely want more time. 10-12 teams with the same roster, we could probably even go 1:15 or 1:30 and it would still be quick. anyway, that’s for another time.

Who steals more bases this year? Acuña or my soon-to-be-acquired Esteury Ruíz?

I was accurate when I guessed ~2 hrs. when you went to 45 sec.

Drafting poorly so you can show off your in-season management skillz is A strategy, I suppose.
Wouldn’t say I drafted poorly, Matt. You’re going to learn some things about what Fantasy Pros did for your team this season…

What were the projections for Tyler O’Neill?

FWIW - I see Ruiz's name a lot on "bust" and "do not draft" lists.
Lists are neat

I thought you were only drafting players with less than 2 years service time, after the first few rounds. The process was more sophisticated than I realized.
