Oh that’s right....he’s on some special training trip.
Why is it that he is the only poster to detail his work history?
Hey....I’m proud of my education and work history as I’m sure many others are?
Do any of us talk about it? No....LOL
Reason? It has absolutely nothing to do with baseball talk.
Narcissistic fraud....LOL
Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
I was and remain a supporter of Gorman, but I never got ahead of my skis with him. Melville of course, has said: "There has never been a power hitting LH 2b like him in MLB history." Uh, OK.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 20:57 pmHe now has as many home runs as Mel’s unikkorn power hitter Gorman in fewer at bats and ops is getting back up to .900
Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
Weird.
Why would you say Herrera sucks?
Terrible catcher - now largely retired from that position it would appear, which is certainly good news for him and his career (as I first advised 3 years ago).
Solid BA/OBP bat which could play at a corner outfield if the glove can make it there.
These truths have been obvious for a long time.

Re: Herrera. I warned about this.
Herrera looked very "hitterish" the last 2 days.
When he stays in the zone, he does damage, a true mistake hitter.

His post-game interview he implied he was swinging out of the zone a bit when he came off the IL.Baseball Savant wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 21:46 pmWhen he stays in the zone, he does damage, a true mistake hitter.

We need to cut thru the bullchit. .315 .392 .899 looks like it can be a MOTOB to me.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:14 pm Zero XBH's in 23 PA's.

4 XBH's in his last 91 PA's.
2 doubles in his last 35 games.
Ugly.
Some declared him a middle order bat.
I warned against that thinking.
Said he could very well be a high BA, high OBP guy - but no evidence that he can become a middle order producer.
My advice?

He is about the most dangerous bat in the lineup. Hopefully he can play LF or simply just DH. The bat plays.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 21:55 pmWe need to cut thru the bullchit. .315 .392 .899 looks like it can be a MOTOB to me.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:14 pm Zero XBH's in 23 PA's.

I vote DH. I’m now concerned about his ability to stay healthy

Same thing folks were saying about the Paper Tyler during a brief streak over a couple hundred at-bats a few years ago.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 21:55 pmWe need to cut thru the bullchit. .315 .392 .899 looks like it can be a MOTOB to me.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:14 pm Zero XBH's in 23 PA's.

I said it didn't make him a middle order bat.
99%+ disagreed with me - and every one of them was wrong.
Again, it is always wiser to rely on facts more so than hope.
Herrera has proven he can be a very good BA/OBP guy - who has been in need of a position.
Corner outfield could be the ticket - as I advised 3 years ago.
Folks need to set reasonable expectations.
Fact is, he hit a HR tonight (that's a good thing) - but it was also his first and only XBH in 36 July PA's.
He had 4 in 68 PA's last month.
That is 5 XBH's in 104 PA's.
That's less than half of what a middle order bat should contribute at a minimum.
For the year, he now has 17 XBH's in 207 PA's - which is low compared to several of his own teammates.
That is plenty good enough for a #2 hitter with an OBP of .371 (at DH or corner outfield).
But that is not nearly enough damage for a 4 or 5 spot on a quality team.
Simply not the right use, not the right role.
Let him be who he is.
But don't put the burden on him - or any other player - of expecting more than what evidence suggests.
Mo has had a long history of doing that very thing - and that has been a disaster.
Why would anyone want to repeat that bad bet yet again?
Weird how folks ignore evidence in favor of dreams and confuse facts for criticism.

Gorman has just 18 extra base hits in 226 PA and he can’t hit or get on base and you claim he’s a unikkorn never been one like himMelville wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 22:23 pmSame thing folks were saying about the Paper Tyler during a brief streak over a couple hundred at-bats a few years ago.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 21:55 pmWe need to cut thru the bullchit. .315 .392 .899 looks like it can be a MOTOB to me.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:14 pm Zero XBH's in 23 PA's.

I don't post much. But I read a lot. You must sit and read your posts and convince yourself you are knowledgeable. Post enough [nonsense] and some will stick. Carry on.

Time to own up that he sucks and should not be here next year.

You also said the same thing about Matt Carpenter for years. I said he hit HR at a faster rate than any other LH 2B in history who was at the same age - and that was factually correct.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 22:37 pmGorman has just 18 extra base hits in 226 PA and he can’t hit or get on base and you claim he’s a unikkorn never been one like himMelville wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 22:23 pmSame thing folks were saying about the Paper Tyler during a brief streak over a couple hundred at-bats a few years ago.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 21:55 pmWe need to cut thru the bullchit. .315 .392 .899 looks like it can be a MOTOB to me.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 20:14 pm Zero XBH's in 23 PA's.

There had never been a player with that profile in MLB history.
I also said STL had not produced a LH hitter with his potential power ceiling in at least 60 years.
Perfectly correct statements.
But, I also never claimed he was a cleanup hitter.
In fact, I have said consistently that if given opportunity he would be an excellent 6 hitter, with that HR threat sitting perfectly behind the middle.
I am never for or against any player.
I always analyze free of bias, free of agenda.
Herrera is no different.
Years ahead of anyone else, I was perfect in my analysis that his defense at catcher was not going to be good enough.
It took 3 years for Mo to admit the obvious.
Now, I am correctly analyzing that Herrera is a very good BA/OBP bat - but with just 17 XBH's in 207 PA's, folks should not rush to make the same silly inflated judgement as they did with The Paper Tyler.
Let he be who he is and fill the roles for which he is well suited - and not expect him to be a middle order RH power bat.
Again, it is always amusing to see folks passionately defend a position with no well thought out argument - and assume that a statement of fact is somehow denigrating to a player.
