The ‘option year’ on Oli a smart move

In most of the back and forth in Oli extension, there has been little discussion on 3rd year ‘team option’ of the deal.
Don’t mean just CT posts but St. Louis media too.
If team wants to retain Oli for added year after 2028, they have him secured at a reasonable rate but if they wish to part ways, they can release him with the ‘buyout’ provision.
It’s totally the Cardinals choice .

Yeah, as much as my torch and pitchfork lie at the ready, the extension is more of a risk-mitigating business move than a statement of intent. Hopefully, one of two things will happen before then. 1) Oli will be gone or 2) Oli will prove me wrong by becoming a winning manager. My preference is for 2), but my money is on 1).
