I wondered last fall if Bloom's decision to keep Marmol was a sign that he lacked the autonomy to fire him or the intelligence to move on.

We have our answer.

In actuality , Oli got MORE than a 2-year extension . He has the 'team option ' clause for 2029 season too... meaning if team does not wish to retain him for that year , they would also be paying some ' buy out ' $$. for 2029 to say bye bye to Oli .
So 2 years of full salary and a guaranteed buyout sum if not retained for the 3rd year.

Mo must've taught oli how to keep a job despite producing pitiful results. Or he passed some DeWitt blackmail to Lil oli before he left.

The Cardinals are now just happy to participate in Major League Baseball. That's the bottom line. And they hope they can drag fans along for the ride.

I know I’m impressed with his results players continue to play just as poor fundamental baseball several years after coming up as they did when they first came up. For a manager to be able to get that level of consistent poor play out of them is impressive

Exactly. The fundamentals dropped off after Shildt left. The iPad cant coach that. This pud just follows what analytics tells him to do. A 12 year old could do that.

The first professional sports team leader to be hired and extended multiple times with accountability, skill, leadership, and winning being absolute non-factors.

There's a Bernie video out there in which he says unequivocally that Yadi and Albert each came to Marmol independently and told him that if he were the manager that they wanted to be a part of the team in some capacity. I saw it on a fb reelz but couldn't figure out how to post it on here.
No kidding. Maybe someone else saw it and can post it.
