The Red Sox gave up 15 yesterday, the Phillies 16, the Twins 17, and the Marlins 10.

It happens in ST.

Not a good sign.
Not one is assured of making the team.

Didn’t listen to game yesterday. Anyone know how Saggese did in center?

Yes. I never heard of it before. Explain why Wetherholt has only played parts of 2 games at 2B when he is going to be the 2B on opening day.

Looks like he caught a fly ball to end the 2nd inning and hit a ground rule double to left center in the 5th. Baez replaced him in the 6th.

So you have never experienced spring training before...

They've played 7 games. Nobody has been in more than 5 and he's been in 4...

Wait...I thought you were freaking out about pitchers? Who work on things in ST while building up stamina...now it's JW?

You truly are a moran

Indeed. Opening day for MLB is March 26. Until about the last 10-15 days of ST, the lineups and positions... well in the infamous words of Mr. Natural, "Don't mean sheeit". The minor league players will be out of camp and then the big boys will start to get more innings where they will play. Pitchers will go 3 innings if they are starters.. the world will keep spinning...

Maybe bc ST is the time to work on the more uncomfortable positions he may need to play rather than play the position he’s played his entire life.

Makes you wonder don’t it. Most say- it’s spring training. They are working on things.

My take. A ball player at this level would never allowed himself to lose that edge: he must be training in the off season.

How then, with so much for the pro to utilize, does one come to ST and Cant go a mere three outs, early or not.

Surely these pitchers have been throwing all off season to a certain degree.

Seems callous to me.

Take this with a grain of salt… to me, outs from pitchers in spring training aren’t all that important. It’s about feel, and health, and building. A guy doesn’t need to paint the corners or unleash his nastiest secondaries in games that don’t matter. Teams are far more interested in how it looks than the results at this point of the year.

That’s exactly my point- feel, health, and build. All off season, surely we got healthy minus surgeries. Feel. They pitch often in off season. The only feel I see relevant is weather related feel. Build. I agree. Nothing can build you to THAT point like in game solutions.

End point. I think there has to be a stair step approach to innings, but id think one would be entry level.

These aren't 10 year olds learning to play a position fir the first time. They practice all day long, and do drills all day long, which is more valuable than a few innings on defense. Do you really think JJ playing 4 innings at 2b every other day is going to change him one way or the other?

These guys are the best in the country at what they do. They are NOT learning how to play the game.
