First Game of ST

I think that while the Cardinals lost the game, the game served its purpose. JJ got his feet wet at 2B and made an error. So what. He will fit in there just fine. I thought that Libby did well. I think we should all expect to see multiple lineup changes during the ST games this year for Oli/staff to get a look at what they have. Fernandez was a huge disappointment. Pages had some good at-bats and fouled off a bunch of pitches. I could mention a lot more good things from this game, but I will let others chime in.
I was disappointed that Walker was not in the lineup, but that is alright, given the number of ST games coming up.

+1 and the game was lost by Matthew’s and Fernandez who won’t even be on the opening day roster

Until proven otherwise, the concern will be our offensive lineup. Only one RBI and zero for everything with RISP. None of last years OFers were even available.
Not that it matters but 0-1 against other teams that are also rebuilding and not trying to win this year.

The first game of spring training is meaningless. If the cards had won people that don’t like the Cardinals direction would say it means nothing but since they lost they think it means something because two pitchers who won’t be on the opening day roster blew it lol

By itself, it’s meaningless. But since we already expect that the offense is going to be atrocious this year, it’s just one more game of confirmation of what we already know from last year and the year before.
And it will probably continue unless personnel or coaching changes.

Hales 1 inning 3 ks. I like.
I have this strong suspicion the Cardinals will have one of the best pens in MLB.

The offense will be better than most expect - unless The Marmot continues to make the stupid decisions which have been become his standard operating procedure.
Hopefully, Bloom will put a stop to it - or quickly fire him.
We shall see.

Its not meaning less to players trying to make the roster. I'm pretty sure Church didn't think so.
Probably not meaningless to the management either

I agree with the coaching changes should be made. Oli needs to be a lot more aggressive. Larussa if a player was struggling would put on a hit and run because it takes away the amount of overthinking they do it’s just I need to put the ball in play and hit it to the right side. Oli needs to be more aggressive. Hit and run steals no more waiting for a home run on a team with no home run hitters. But I think they will make changes if players are contributing nothing. I don’t think Gorman and walker have season long runways just my opinion. I still
Maintain the rotation will be better and the bullpen will be just as good

It was over before it began. We aren’t even trying this year.

You’re right again. They are practicing losing so they can tank.
Probably would’ve won if we had a different manager.
