Was impressed with both JJ at bats today. In his first at bat , he didn't chase any pitches . had a foul ball on one in zone and a swing and miss on another getting to full count. On the 3-2 pitch the batter thru a pitch in the zone and JJ put the ball in play grounder to 2nd baseman. .

Then the 2nd at bat , there was only ONE pitch in the zone and he fouled that one off but there were four more pitches (all out of the zone ) and JJ never chased any of them taking the four 'ball' calls and getting a walk. So as advertised, he showed outstanding pitch recognition in both at bats.
That is what you want to see from a player at the plate. Swing only at the good pitches and lay off the poor location ones.
I have been of the opinion that JJ will soon be the lead-off batter for this team.

PS On the walk, Fermin followed with double moving JJ to 3rd and then he scored on a wild pitch. So that walk scored a run for the team. Good Job !
