Does the 2026season seem like a joke?

For the past 2 seasons we were told Gorman had runway and we had to see what he had. What’s different this season? He is not good
For the last 2 seasons we were told Walker had a runway and we had to see what he had. What’s different this season? He is not good
For the past 2 seasons we have known Saggese needs to play second because his arm is best suited there.
Etc etc etc
Why did they not improve their big league roster during this past winter? This season is a wasted year with a PR joke telling us they have to see what they have. We already did that. It is not good!
My guess is that the record will be 62 wins and 100 loses.

Which of the young players would you have traded to bring better players?

Great point. If you think the Contreras and Donny trades didn't bring back anyone of significance, trading any of these guys would have brought a bag of balls. Especially after NG and JW started to decline after good first years (and no one would have traded them after those first-year numbers).

Everyone has a different perspective for sure. I am looking forward to the 2026 season. Guess in my DNA .. I didn't see the Cardinals in any playoff til I was age 16 back in 1964 . Still enjoyed rooting for them every single year. Will watch every game this year too (well with exception of the stream games I cannot get. 70+ years following the Cardinals .
Go Cards !

The joke is people who refuse to comprehend what a rebuild looks like.

Noot and excess catchers for starters. Sorting thru this poorly constructed roster of mostly low paid low production JAGs needs to happen sooner not later

Did you enjoy the 70’s as much as I did? They never won but I loved watching.

LOL...You're gonna get roasted by the rebuild guild on this board. They will insult you and then tell you there's no way the Cards can field a team until they raise a young superstar batch from the minors and that it'll be years before they have a competent team for fans to enjoy and root for. Meanwhile most of the winning playoff bound teams reload their talent with a few trades and some free agent signings. But the poor poor Cardinals are a breed apart from that. They can't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time and that dastardly Mozeliak did this to the fans. Then they'll insult you some more.

Not going to spend and they have zero trade value so they are waiting for someone internally to push Gorman and Walker out of lineup.

Watching Ted Simmons made it worth watching.

I understand what you are saying. The response will be that we are rebuilding. Some will say you don’t know what a rebuild looks like. I say…. What have we rebuilt? We got rid of veterans and their contracts. But we did not respend that money saved to rebuild the team. Our roster has players that once again are going to have a make it or not type season, I.e. Gorman, Walker. We have several players that might improve but do they really have the talent to improve that much, i.e. Noot, Scott, Burley, Saggese, Fermin and yes IH.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m excited to watch but this rebuild so far has not been much of a rebuild.

Hmmm. Bought in. As in suckers? Chumps? So the team had two options.
1) continue operating at a slight profit margin (assumed by me), produce little in the way of home grown talent and spend on a few mid level stars each year to contend for the central division or wildcard spot with little chance of ever seeing a World Series title again. Staying this path and expecting change is funny.
2) Tear it down to the rafters, rebuild an antiquated farm system hiring more and better scouts and coaches and improve facilities to join the modern baseball world. Try to actually contend for a title with a strong farm system and wise free agent spending. Yeah this is what "I bought".
I prefer a shot at a ring than mediocre seasons the next 10 years.
