A salary floor + cap is not less likely with Clark stepping down. TBD if be new MLBPA lead is more willing to consider it.

Clark was only doing what the player reps wanted him to do. He didn't have that much power. The next guy will be in the same position.

League minimum is 800K
The top player is making 60mil A SEASON
And there are posters here who Worry about MLB players representation??
They play this game for 6mnth a year to entertain YOU…..You’re paying these salaries
Musial had a 150K contract late 50’s-60….in todays dollar he’d be making 1.5-1.75mil
Have ordinary wages kept up with increase in sports entertainment compensation…..that YOU’RE paying for?
Please pick at least 1000 other things to worry about than the plight of a young man playing pro sports. He’s just fine.

Manny Machado was seen praising the Dodgers and calling for all teams to be like them! Well, of course he is saying that! He’s made his money. What he’s missing is that very few other teams can come close to being like the Dodgers! It’s not a level playing field. Can other teams spend more, sure they could, but what’s happening is that the Dodgers are raising the costs for all other players too. All teams place value on players and because the Dodgers give Tucker $60 mil, that increases what other players want paid.
It’s just going too far!
I can’t believe that all the players are for the way things are going. The middle tier players are being pushed out, because teams are going with the younger, cheaper alternatives. Look at how many decent players are having to settle for minor league deals just to find a job. There is a much higher percentage of guys playing that aren’t ever going to get these mega deals. Surely they can see that some changes are needed?

Probably Bruce Meyer. He is the MLBPA Chief Negotiator and the one who negotiated the current CBA

Passan following up by reporting that a source indicated to him that Clark resigned after it was discovered he had an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who had been hired by the union, in 2023.
Clown show.

There's a lot of things here that when we type a few words here might not articulate
my full POV.
Baseball players compensation is more than enough.
medical and retirement plus is in the compensation that
us schmucks still pay for.
I'm okay with entertainers being overpaid. I don't have to buy it.
I don't understand the thought that these entertainers need or are entitled to half.
There is a repulsive greed when enough is never enough.
It was an Arenado attribute when he was in position to get more
and he said he had enough.

Wage inflation obviously hasn’t risen along with pro sports salary inflation and we’re the ones paying for the entertainment…..something is out of whack. If MLB salaries were cut in half…..it wouldn’t even come close to equalizing.

So what does this mean, are the owners poised to slam dunk on the players?
