Nail on the head for the floor argument.

IMO, there is also an argument for a ceiling because not every owner runs Guggenheim

NFL, NBA and NHL all have salary floors. Has a floor negatively affected those leagues?

It has damaged the fans…

I urge you to review the average ticket prices for those leagues compared to mlb

Perhaps you want to pay 200 for an mlb average ticket…

The real problem is the arbitration process…

So team A is poorly run…a very weak organization…but because they have a floor to meet, they give a weak player …a shortstop 25 million…

Jeremy Peña goes to arbitration…..the first thing his agent says is….”hey, that bum in A is getting 25 million….of course my guy is worth 40”

Disagree. There were nine dollar tickets available for the Redskins game when they hosted the Broncos last fall.

What needs to happen and What eventually will happen is normalization of rookie, contract values, and a much quicker path of free agency like the other leagues have. There should be a much smaller gap between what young players make and the market price for their contribution. This concept of control is going to go away as we know it

You do understand the word “average”?

and that is aftermarket…….

just out of curiosity….if this floor was in place….which cards players would you give more money to ?

JJW would have a much larger rookie contract by virtue of his draft ranking.

MLB has 81 home games. NFL has 8. Pretty flawed to compare single game ticket prices.

The point is that owners would be motivated to field a competitive team. So the roster wouldn't look like this. I'd vote that they pay Kyle Tucker. Framer Valdez? Dylan Cease?

Ticket price inflation has nothing to do with higher player salaries, it's just price gouging.

The problem with the current setup is that the Dodgers are going to pay a guy like Tucker more than any other team no matter what.

If you put in a floor with no cap, all that is going to happen is (bleep) players are going to be paid more to fill out small market rosters while the Dodgers and large market teams keep fielding all-star teams that have a 100% chance of making the playoffs. It's not a system that is good for the long term health of the sport.

No they would be motivated to spend x dollars…..

and that does not mean that the players receiving x dollars will be competitive….it could be wasted money

Cooper Flagg is getting $62M over 4 years. Wemby is up there too. That's still a lot less than Shae or Jokic.

Pittsburg absolutely should be paying 8 figures for what Skenes produces.
