This might be the move to make for outfield help

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/ni ... 897b&ei=15 Maybe the Phillies would send some cash with Castellanos in exchange for a mid level prospect. It might be the one year fix in the outfield the Cardinals need until Baez is ready for the MLB.

The Phillies can't even give him away right now. There is a reason for that.

No. I don’t think it’s realistic. You need to think younger and cost controlled.
Next. We are attempting to solve the outfield mess. With youth. Takes time. More than an off-season.
That’s the trick. Waiting

Castellanos is due $20mm this year. In the last two seasons, he's produced a
cumulative fWAR of -0.4 (yes, that's a
minus 0.4). Even at a reduced rate (you never say how much salary the Phillies would/should have to cover), why would you want to pay for
that AND throw in a prospect when the Cardinals clearly are in rebuild mode?

Casteilanos would be a one year fix for an outfield that needs help.

He's at best a replacement-level player at this point in his career, with a $20mm salary. What, exactly, does he "fix"?

A one year fix for what? That’s the point. He is in the way. It’s a youth revival. The next saturation of players- next off season, will be outfield heavy. Just like now with our pitching and infield.
We ain’t competing.

So, right now, how's your idea of a starting MLB outfield for the Cardinals looking for '26? Any serious power potential? Even with the rebuild in mind, most Cardinals fans would like to support a competitive team in '26. IMO.

Castellanos was removed late in a game for defensive purposes. His reaction was described as inappropriate, angry, and disrespectful,
He made an “inappropriate comment” toward manager Rob Thomson after being lifted from the game.
This led to him being benched the next day.
Players and coaches were reportedly disgusted by how he handled it.

I don’t think he is the right guy however I would support a ST contract for veteran outfielder but at this point not sure there is such an option. Cardinals should have moved earlier.

Seems like an opportunity to get a bargain deal. And Marmol is supposed to be good with handling players. I would prefer both Walker and Baez to be ready to produce some power at the MLB level in 26. Is that happening?

I’m good with Scott, I’m good with Walker. I feel both will hit better, and Walker with some power. As for left. Many options, to include a one year to a mentor like player is the last option I’d think. .
Not this one.

Apparently, there aren't a lot of options available.

A "bargain deal"? Out of curiosity, what do you estimate the market price is (or should be) for
minus-0.6 wins?
