Would another league have success

There really isn't a counterpart to MLB I can think of quite like what football has with the XFL (even though that hasn't been necessarily successful). I wonder if during a potential lockout there could be a potential for another league to have success. Bonus: if the new league had DH style play, could it bring in more fan interest. I had been playing old baseball video games and to me even the video game is more fun to play with NL style play. It makes you have to think about the whole roster including the bench. On the game I like to go with 15 or 16 position players and only like 9 or 10 pitchers with a couple of the rotation slots being used for relievers (keep most the true SPs on the inactive roster). That way I get to create all sorts of matchups but the fun of it really only happens if it's in an NL park. Of course you wouldn't have a roster set that way in real life. But if you created a different league you could do something like that to where maybe instead of having games everyday of the week it would just be two a week or something. So then the roster makeup could be totally different like 15 position players and 10 pitchers. All hands on deck for a 2 game weekend duel.
Could something like that happen during a lockout?
