Pitchers and catchers report tomorrow and all you want to talk about is their final 2026 record? Come on Tim, have some fun! Smell the popcorn! Its baseball season, after a long cold winter. Tomorrow is the beginning of the days of summer, one of the finest recurring events of my life.

Cards will win at least 78 if a few things go right they will win more than 80. And i dont see why you dont see a pitcher winning more than 10. Mcgreevy won 8 in just 16 starts. Liebratore I think definitely wins more than 10 since he won’t have the fatigue issues may if he is healthy will definitely win 10

If they stay healthy and don't lose key players to LT injury or trade, then.....

80 - 84 wins

They were #19 in R/G in 2025. They might need to climb that
ladder a bit in order to get those accomplishments.
The good news is that it would be difficult to point to any
player overachieving in 2025.

Health might impact in either direction if one of the underachieving
players go down and replaced by more production.

Looking across the roster. There are at least 10 questions amongst the hitters and position players. 10 plus more questions amongst the pitchers. Most of those have to break right for the cardinals to compete.

I can see why some will say O/U is ~68 wins.

I'll say 74 wins. Mixing hope and reality and not seeing anybody in ST yet. But that will be last place in the NL Central.

If they wind up being .500 or above, Oli should get a multi year extension

Their record last season was based on strength of bullpen the rotation was trash like 23rd in the majors and their offense isn’t good. Their bullpen was still good even after trading matz and helsely and maton so it should be about as good as it was after the deadline. The rotation will be better and they have depth so they won’t have to stay with trash like mikolas fedde and pallante just about the whole season if they suck. So with an improved rotation and a bullpen about what it was after the deadline they will be better even if the offense is light again

We hope for better. It is ST time. I'm still optimistic.

Lack of depth also showed up. July, Aug, Sept
RS/RA, 286/389. That's more than a single aspect of the team.

They don't seem to stay healthy and that's not just the players who get ridiculed.
WC, BD, MW, JW, NG, NA, all missed at least 20 games of the 76 games July-September.
Now 3 of the injury prone were moved. But their depth didn't step up, some concerns there.
It may well be that those months show the lack of depth again just with
different names. Pitching similar issues.

True. They were very healthy as a staff too.

Even Fedde had 12 of his first 15 games go
with giving up 3 runs or less. 9 games 2 runs or less. 4 with 0 runs. Miles was his polar self.
22 games 3 runs or less. Then 6 games with 5 runs or more.

yup - that stretch got us to 9 games OVER .500 - there will be no such thing happening in 2026 that is why we will struggle to win 70
