Much has been written and spoken into microphones about how the 2026 W/L record will not be the top priority for the Cards.

The only thing I’ve heard bloom say is that they want to compete next season but not at the expense of the future. Maybe bloom or Dewitt somewhere said next seasons record didn’t matter but I’ve never seen it. I’ve read and heard reporters opinions that it didn’t matter but I never heard it from them

I'm all for the re-build, but let's not nitpick. Of course they've never come out and said those words- why would you? They have tickets to sell and a fanbase to re-invigorate. They have told you all you need to know about their expectations for the W/L record for the year with their transactions. I too, expect them to compete. Compete for jobs, compete to stay in the majors, compete to get better, and even to compete for wins. I do not expect them to be competitive with regard to the standings.
