JJ Cooper and Geoff Pontes with a 22 minute Deep Dive on the state of the Cards Farm System
they cover
JJ Wetherholt (0:00 minute mark)
Liam Doyle (4:30)
System year vs. last year (8:45)
Next Year #1 (12:00)
Position/Type the Org is good at developing (15:40)
Why be excited about this crop of prospects when JW, Carlson, Gorman didn't/haven't lived up to their hype? (18:03)
----------------
The Vod is well worth a view...only 20ish minutes of your time.
enjoy!!

Thanks Crav. My NCAA basketball team has betrayed me. So it's this or read a book that my wife wants to read.

Thanks, Crav ! Looking forward to watching JJ. I , too, like Doyle for the long term. Seems to me that a change up off speed (maybe a splitter or cutter ) now and the can mix in well with his blazing fastball. He mostly will like on that fastball which is major league caliber right now.
His swing and miss ability will be his strength not fooling guys with the off speed stuff. I also like his fieriness on the mound. As Pontes said , a guy who has that is able to deal with the times where batters get to him . He is not the type to hang his head and 'woe is me' . If a Juan Soto hits a rocket off him to the stands, Doyle is type to be even more determined to strike him out on the next at bat. Good characteristic to have in the majors. He won't back off anyone.

and pray he doesn't fall off a cliff after 3 or 4 innings. Pray he develops some superior stamina in AA

Which Catcher does he need to be paired with to correctly sequences his pitches for maximum effectiveness?

The reality is that every year some of the hyped prospects flame out. Hopefully the top 3 prospects all reach their ceiling and a few others surprise, but odds are low for that happening.

Well if only one or two hit and become all stars that’s a huge improvement and I’m not talking players that make the all star team because the cardinals have to have a representative but who actually earn it

I agree, but the other reality is that Dewitt is not going to spend the money necessary to fill the holes in the MLB roster even if the prospects reach their ceilings.
