Good morning.
Pujols, with 316, is second; and Musial with 298 is third in this baseball stat.
What is the stat, and who is number one at 688.
Enjoy.

Just one of those numbers that has always stuck in my head because of how huge a lead he has in I.W.'s

I was gonna ask you about that- the over 350 more IBB than Pujols. Huge. 120 in one season.
Last year Judge led with like 36?. The active leader in baseball is freeman with 142.

While on roid's he was a beast.
Sad thing is he was a 1st ballot HOFer before his ego got the best of him and he cheated, no he (and the rest of the well known) never gets in.

it is surprising to me that Ted Williams is not second on this list. Probably in his era they just threw him some real wide or high ones and hoped that he would chase. Didn't work, though, he walked over 2000 times

Good point
And some would immediately think The Babe but NOT w/Lou Gehrig behind!

Yes the Babe had much better protection than Williams, but he also walked over 2000 times. It is also amazing that Rickey Henderson is second only to Bonds in total bases on balls, with 2190, but only 61 were intentional. Of course, he was a lead off man, and if you walked him intentionally, you were probably giving him two bases.......

Williams is 6th all time in IBBs with 258 (though they weren't tracked until 1955, or maybe an official stat, so not sure how they found the numbers prior to that). Don't forget Williams missed three years for WWII (he has 25 and 20 IBBs the two seasons before he left, and 29 in each of his first two seasons back, probably lost 60-70+ IBBs those three years) and most of two more seasons for the Korean War (9 IBBs the year before he left and 17 the first full year back, so maybe another 15-20 IBBs). Without that missed time he's easily 1st in IBBs until Bonds comes along (probably ahead of Pujols still).

Can the IBB be the ultimate compliment to a hitter.
