1-Buffalo had a playoff roster. Marmol didn’t.
2-Pete Carroll is 146 years old. Marmol isn’t.
3-Mike Tomlin has been mediocre for a decade. Marmol hasn’t.

That’s why I’m discussing Oli.

He’s never won a playoff game. He’s been here too long and too long doesn’t have to be a decade. And he hasn’t developed his players into playoff caliber or even reached their talent levels like these other coaches have.

It’s possible to do a lot more with what he’s had or at least have the vision to ask for what he needs which he lacks.

Bo, Tebow, Deion all played both sports. Several owners have owned teams in multiple sports. Oil certainly won’t be the one to do it, but the gap between sports is not as big as we pretend it is.

Interesting that you use NFL coaching carousel which occurs annually . This year 9 head coaches fired . Have you noticed in NFL that a lot of these fired coaches that were 'fired for not being good enough' surface again with other teams. Ex. Mike Vrabel was with Titans for a few years with Tenn. and now his NE Patriots are doing wonderful. Harbaugh not good enough for Ravens after long tenure there gets picked up immediately by the NY Giants.
Those are just two examples . Many many more over the years. So a 'fired' coach by one NFL team is highly sought by another very quickly.
So nothing to do with 'not being good enough'. Plenty of managers in baseball that were released by a team who found jobs with other teams too.

I see a lot of similarity to the Cards tank as the Astros tank. Just like Mills and Porter were caretakers of the team until they were ready to compete then fired. Oli will be the same.

Marmol doesn't trust his players and his handling of a pitching staff is akin to ordering sushi at an Italian restaurant.

McDermott needed to be fired. He's had a top 2 QB in the league, and could not even win his division this year, meaning they had to go on the road for playoffs. Unfortunately, the GM was retained, and he should have been canned as well.
On the other hand, Oli has been given nothing to help his team win.
