Because it sorta has to work both ways. If they wanted Noot, chances are, they'd have him by now.

Right or wrong, I think the Cardinals are betting on Noot to perform better in 2026 and increase his trade value. Maybe looking to deal him at 2026 trade deadline.

The time to trade Mootbaar was last offseason, or the offseason before, or the off-season before that - as I was the only person on the planet advising in each instance.

Not all of us have been big on Nootbaar. I have said for years that if used properly his ceiling is a fourth outfielder.
Never saw what people were excited about.

If Noot doesn't recover faster than Tommy Edman, he will still be on the DL by the trade deadline.
I seriously doubt he improves his performance immediately coming off surgery.

Mo and his Goonies were enamored by Noots statistics while hitting in the cages! Unfortunately that never ever transferred over onto the field! If you look at his minor league stats, nothing there ever showed he’d be more than he has been.
Also they were looking for a player to market and we all know how the fans love to yell “ Nooooooot “ every time he remotely does anything! Just another example of the Cardinals deteriorated under Mo and his staff.

Cards should sign Bader for that price and platoon him with Nootbaar and Scott II.

Surgery or not, his performance will never improve.
