The Pirates and first baseman/outfielder Ryan O’Hearn have agreed to a two-year deal with a $29MM guarantee, reports Robert Murray of FanSided. The ACES client can also earn an extra $500K each year via incentives. Pittsburgh has a full 40-man roster and will need to make a corresponding move for this to become official.

The Pirates may make a run this year with Milwaukee. They have outstanding starting pitching. While Lowe and O'hearn are not superstars, they are good defenders and solid hitters. They need Reynolds and Hayes to play better again. Probably need one more bat to be decent contenders. But, they appear to be ahead of the Cards at this point.

Lowe sucks defensively and they traded Hayes to the Reds.

fangraphs put the Cards below the Pirates after the Contreras trade.
fangraphs widened the gap after the O'Hearn signing.
40.4 Brewers
38.8 Cubs
34.9 Reds
34.6 Pirates
33.0 Cardinals
... and we plan to trade Donovan next!

Appear? They were better last year and the Cards have traded away their best pitcher and hitter. I look for the Cards to be dead last at the end of the year. Maybe DeWitt thinks he's coddling these guys too much. Break out the Greyhound busses.

I recall someone saying at the beginning of last season that the Cardinals were trending down to the Pirates in the division.
Oh wait..that was me.
I remember certain posters saying that was not orcwould never be the case.
Anyone with a lick of sense could have saw this coming .

On not signing O’Hearn? Why do you feel STL needed him?
