CBS Sports reporting Red Sox discussing Donovan deal too.
Now that would be something. Gray, Contreras, and Donovan all to same team !

I don't have a problem with the deals that have been done with Boston, and I don't have a problem doing another deal with them for Donovan, but the next trade would have to be a different sort of trade. Donovan's contract is not upside down- it's a bargain. His market is also broader as opposed the narrow markets for Gray and Contreras. As such, the return needs to be much better. More upside. Close to the majors. Speaking for myself only, I wouldn't entertain a trade with Boston without Kyson Witherspoon. If that's a deal-breaker, so be it. They don't really have a position player that neatly fits the Cardinals needs. Even it they don't make a trade, it's great that they are talking about it. I hope it gets talked and written about everywhere.

If they trade Donovan they have officially become the Pittsburgh Pirates. Develop young players and when they become stars you get rid of them so you don;t have to pay up and then when or if the prospects you got in return turn into stars you ship them off for the next batch of prospects. A vicious circle with no chance of winning

If Donny is traded to Boston and the Sox take it to the world series next year, this place will totally go ape [shirt]!

They need to keep Donovan for 3B unless they can get a haul for him.

I don’t know why the cardinals wouldn’t have made it to the post season with them much less made it to the World Series

Witherspoon and Phillips....our quest to stock our Minors with quality RHP is almost now complete. Put a bow on this one, Folks.

Good and accurate take.
I find it hard to believe the best possible offers and deals all just happen to come from Boston? I realize Bloom has familiarity but it almost seems like bias could be blinding him to a better return.
At least in Donovan’s case, which as you pointed out, is on a different level.

I'm on board. Can you imagine one team taking 7 pitchers out of another team's offseason?

you're right....Dohm from the Mets, Molina from the Rangers....I got that one confused. I was thinking Molina and Baez from Mets.

Yes, and make a deal with Detroit and get his brother too! He is just about as good as a prospect as Kyson is in reality!

Why? The only players traded that have any connection to Bloom were Blaze Jordan (a low level acquisition made before Bloom was working for the MLB team) and Hunter Dobbins (drafted in 2021 in the 8th round). What does he have bias for if only one player traded for out of six he had any connection with?
