Any Apologies from Gates or the University Today?
How many of you went to the game last night and felt like your money was well spent? How many of you think that the University of Missouri could possibly be this bad at basketball after 4 (?) years of Gates? It seems like at least 10 years. I don’t care what kind of class he has coming in next year. He’ll find a way to eff that up. Leonard Hamilton, what hath you wrought and what have the smart folks at Mizzou bought into? Both the program and the University need to say something, such as this type of play WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, unless of course that it will be tolerated.

Remember that they're not coming until they sign their commitment letters. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

I didn't think we'd win, but my three friends & I went hoping for the best. We went to the pre-game party & had fun with other Mizzou alums. The game started & it wasn't too bad. We stayed with IL for a while, but they started to edge away. Then it just collapsed. We couldn't do anything right. Gates put in everyone except the water-boy (where was Porter?) & no one played worth a darn. We left at the final 4-minute break so we could avoid all the chastisement from the Ill-Annoys. (Actually, the IL's that we did see on the way out looked as if they felt sorry for us.) I hope none of the recruits watched this debacle. Can't imagine I'd want to throw my lot in with this mess. (Don't think the Bubonic Plague tactic is going to work.)
On a related subject; why is the Braggin' Rights always a mystery? We never know when we can buy tickets & it's a pain to get them. Tickets were supposed to go on sale a day in early DEC. I went on the Enterprise site the day before to familiarize myself with the process. I discovered that tickets were already on sale & all I could get were at the top of the Center. & I mean the very top! I guess there were worse seats. At least we weren't on the ends which are even farther away from the court. I think that unless next year's team is at least average I'll opt for watching on TV or maybe going to BPV.

Try getting your tix directly from the Athletic Dept., Marv. I always get good seats in the Mizzou section.MizzouMarv wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 09:41 am I didn't think we'd win, but my three friends & I went hoping for the best. The way Marv complains about Mizzou fans and attendence, there's a good chance he's on the AD's Naughty List.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 10:45 am Try getting your tix directly from the Athletic Dept., Marv. I always get good seats in the Mizzou section.
Re: Any Apologies from Gates or the University Today?
yeah, but Marv can spell attendance.
Re: Any Apologies from Gates or the University Today?
another wasted season by a not very good coaching staff. Last years bottom feeders all got better players than MU did for this season and looks like MU will be one of the bottom feeders who might eke out a win or two in conference IF they get lucky. Won't be following much as they just don't play any defense, nor shoot very good from outside or inside the 3 pt line. despite a lot of size they don't rebound very well either so they are the total package.
At least they won't get your hopes up by barely making the tournament before the inevitable first round beat down by a no name team ends the season.
Then all we can hope for is the talent will be so good that the mediocre coaches can't slow them down much. IF they do then the new AD this isn't his guy will go find a SEC worthy HC.

I thought we were the tallest team in D-1? Did you see the rebound totals from last night? We got our butts kicked. Badly. Ladies and gents, that’s coaching, hustling, desire, positioning and smarts. We are, unquestionably, a very dumb basketball team. We are lazy. Lazy teams don’t rebound or play defense. Too much work. Too much brain power required. This is a dud of a team coached by dud adults. 48 points? That is inconceivable. Was Mitchell scared by the Commies last night? 6 big ones if I recall correctly. Pitiful. Disgrace to the uni. Anymore of this garbage and Norm will be begging the uni to remove his name from the court.

Bubonic plague is communicable, so the recruits won't want to be anywhere near Boone County for several years.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 09:14 amHe’d better be on the phone today reassuring these recruits that the team played so badly last night because they had the bubonic plague.

As you articulated, tall doesn’t directly translate to rebounds. You have to want the ball. Dennis Rodman was not the biggest guy on the floor, but nobody wanted the ball more and he would fight for position. Missouri’s bigs are lazy and don’t want any part of playing in the paint. We need a couple DeMare Carroll types who will are willing to take the bruising and dish out some of their own. That guy picked up the name Junk Yard Dog for a reason…..he earned it.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 14:21 pm I thought we were the tallest team in D-1? I played at a very well respected IL HS basketball program until I was a junior. We shot FTs day after day. We practiced rebounding every day. We pressed. And pressed. And pressed. We pressured the ball on the inbounds and we blocked out aggressively on the rebound. We played defense relentlessly. Then, I watch this bull stuff. These guys have never been coached. Never. Even now, they are not coached. Just awful stuff.rezero wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 17:58 pmAs you articulated, tall doesn’t directly translate to rebounds. You have to want the ball. Compared to Illinois it looked like they picked 5 guys out of the stands and put a Missouri uniform on them.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑23 Dec 2025 18:43 pmI played at a very well respected IL HS basketball program until I was a junior. That's how bad it was.
