This franchise will need true star power. TB drew 19k for a PLAYOFF game

I don’t want to watch a team that just relies on cheap, ai driven ratio formulas to squeeze out 90 wins by committee but has no HOF candidates and no long term loyalty to its franchise players (or even have franchise players?).

TB baseball is boring. Opener strategies are boring. The fans don’t even show up for the playoffs.

To get back to the real glory days we need some franchise level players like Yadi and Wainwright who we commit to for their entire careers. And also be willing to build anticipation by bringing in household names like Holliday, McGwire, Rolen, Goldy, Beltran.

And get a top manager.

That’s how we fill Busch III again.

So they wouldn’t be winning the right way? And as far as long team loyalty to its players that loyalty has been a detriment to the cardinals signing Matt carpenter to a stupid extension so he wouldn’t be stressed about free agency bringing waino back for 2023 even though it was obvious he was cooked after 2022 then allowing him to implode all season long and drag the cardinals down bringing carpenter back and giving him playing time to suck. Signing mikolas to an Unnecessary extension so he would have peace of mind. Yadi sucked his last couple of years and wasn’t loyal to the team leaving in the middle of the season to go see his basketball team play. Dewitt was loyal to mo even though it was obvious he sucked and was destroying the organization. There is a such thing as loyal to a fault and the cardinals have been that. The Cardinals need a cold numbers cruncher who if you aren’t going to produce has no problem dumping you. And if the cardinals get back to winning 90 games they will draw 3 million fans

Your logic is [shirt]ty. Tampa Bay doesn’t sell our playoff games.

Also, I think it’s kind of weird. You didn’t bring up Pujols in the glory days.

I see evidence of Rays support throughout Tampa Bay. Yard signs, license plate frames, signs at bar/grills. If the Rays aren't their favorite team they adopted them as their second. The stadium and its terrible location are what hold attendance back. If the Cardinals rebuild the scouting/drafting/player development pipeline they could fill Busch and add FAs to help them contend again.

If STL fields a 90 win team the fans will come. If it's a solid overall team without the one single "elite" star it won't matter. Winning matters.

And I suspect they will either develop one internally or by 2028 land one via free agency anyway. Hopefully develop and have under control for 6 years.

Carp’s team? All the HOF-caliber studs he wants.

The 2026 team? Lemme get back to you on that…

Tampa Bay doesn't draw a crowd because it is Tampa Bay, not because of "how" they win.

If the Cardinals win - no matter how they do it - they'll draw 3+ million.

Its a team built for the regular season.

2023 TB wins 99 games. Elfin is their leader with 16 wins and by far the best year of his career. But then they lose 0-2 in the WC and Texas beats them and wins the freaking WS. Elfin gives up 5 runs to the Rangers. and only 19K fans showed up.

TB is not the model. They win games occassionally but its fools gold.

Zac Elfin is not the type of Ace we need.

Career WAR matters in the playoffs.

For the millionth time, the Cardinals will need to spend on some limited number of veterans when they are ready to compete again.

sure. They also need to spend on the right ones and also extend the franchise HOF caliber players they DO develop and not sell low the first instant they have a bad month after turning 30.
