He was a pretty darn good minor league hitter, overall. He probably needed more power to advance.

A really good hitter.
His hitting went down badly in 2025. Not good for a 27 year old.

LOL, what does Roycroft possess to be on this team? Not saying Koperniak is some big loss either, but seriously, Roycroft has consistently sucked. In other news, this may sound like it may take some time for a trade to occur if cutting to sign Dustin May.

I am a little surprised at this move but he was sort of out by default

They had clearly decided MK was not going to get a shot in STL. OK, fine. But can someone please explain why a guy like Roycroft is on the roster? He stinks. Period. If you leave him unprotected and some other team takes him, then fine.

If he could never crack this OF in the last several years how good could he have been?

Cranny, wasn’t this one of the Farmhands you were tirelessly beating the drum about?

I am not saying he would have made it, but he was never given 20-30 games in a row in the bigs to prove it one way or another. They decided he wasn't going to get a shot for whatever reason, even after he had a good ST. Fine, he is gone. They have better prospects in a guy like Baez.

Matt is a AAAA hitter. We don’t need more guys that are almost good enough to maybe crack the roster when one of your first four OFers are injured. We need difference makers.
I would have considered making this move (or Roycroft) before the rule five and protected Cade Winquest.

One of many who haven't panned out but they meet his idol BDWJr's goal of "cheap labor".

Obviously just floating an opinion but I wonder if Koperniak hit RH if he would have gotten more of a look?
Cards pretty overloaded from LH side.

I think Cranny should stick to watching “Field of Dreams” “The Natural”…..he’s more interested in the players running around the diamond in a uniform and the rookies’ mama crying in the stands on his first AB than having a Winning MLB in Town.
