Haven't heard any leaks about Arenado being in demand

Perhaps I missed it. I realize not everything gets leaked but it seems quiet. I wonder if teams want us to add a player.

You can't leak what doesn't exist. Perhaps teams are waiting to see if the Cardinals ultimately will just release him and eat all the money?

Maybe other 3b like Bichette and Bregman are driving the decisions first
Arenado is like the bottom bin of 3b choices, but still the best option for the Cards

I doubt anyone wants a cheap NA, let alone one with that contract

I think there are other options teams will consider first. He may not get traded or maybe a trade deadline trade. He is too expensive and it may not make sense for Cardinals to eat a lot of $’s. I have always wanted to get rid of him but with Donovan trade 3rd base options get limited. Personally I’ve totally given up on Gorman

+1
NADO's market, if there is one, will only materialize after the top 3rd baseman are off the market.
This could even drag out into STing.

Why would there be? At this point, he's a glove only third baseman with a boat anchor of a contract.

Too close to the holidays now! His glove alone justifies his place on the club. Regardless, for Arenado and the rest trading in the offseason and before the deadline are strategies in play.

Why would there be a big demand for him? There wasn't last year and he had a worse year last year than he did in 2023. He also costs a lot of money.
I think you also have to wait until the 3B market works itself out. Same as last year. He's going to be a guy that teams pivot to if they lose out on a good 3B, not a guy that is in demand.
Also, they can ask for another player, but the Cardinals have came out and said that they do not want to add a player in any deal for Arenado, but would be willing to eat money. Adding a good player to the deal defeats the purpose of this rebuild.

Agree, and if they have to eat a ton of money, just keep him and hope for the best.

Correct. And maybe the leak has dried up.

Maybe there never was a leak.

No, you eat the money you need to. It's not our money and they have the budget for it. He's not needed with what we are trying to do this year. He just takes up space and we have possibilities for the future we need to get playing time.

Right. Maybe it’s simple common knowledge and there it sits.
