Cardinals may have players no one wants.
Could be the case.

Maybe not for what the Cardinals expect in return.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:20 am They have at least one contract that no one wants, but the players have a market.

In this day and age it’s not a mystery as to the level of return. That’s already known. Now it’s simple names and faces changing places.OldRed wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:22 amMaybe not for what the Cardinals expect in return.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:20 am They have at least one contract that no one wants, but the players have a market.
There is legitimate interest in Donovan but Bloom might have a case of Boras syndrome in expecting too much in return. Seems like a deal could’ve already been struck.
Yes, it's awful. Stick to articles by the beat reporters, or Rosenthal, Passan, Nightengale, Morosi and people who are credible. (I couldn't bring myself to include Jon Heyman on the list) The clickbait stuff is for entertainment value only and not hardly worth the time it takes to read it. You and I could write more interesting articles. Maybe we should!Imperial Capitalist wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:52 am Everyone else's mileage may vary, but from a perspective of disgust I've all but given up on off-season articles proclaiming this or that trade/FA course of action seems possible or even likely.
There is still some honest reporting, but for the most part far too much click bait is being generated, both by humans & AI bots.
Of course trades could have been made but I for one don’t want him making trades just to hurry up and make trades to make fans happy. He can take his time if it means getting the type of players he wants to getCorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:25 amThere is legitimate interest in Donovan but Bloom might have a case of Boras syndrome in expecting too much in return. Contreras might be viewed as a head case. Burleson is overrated, at least on this forum. JoJo - what is a middle reliever really going to bring back in return anyway? Arenado? No need to explain.
So yeah, I think you’re probably spot on.

I get not rushing it for the fans sake, but with all the supposed interest, there’s something to be said about getting it done before teams start filling the needs elsewhere because you’re dragging your feet, or they just think you’re not serious and they lose interest and the fever for a deal.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:58 amOf course trades could have been made but I for one don’t want him making trades just to hurry up and make trades to make fans happy. You have to remember with Marte in play a lot of teams are talking to both teams bloom may be waiting on that to play out so the losers of that will pivot to Donovan and pay more. It’s not like there are tons of big trades being made the trades will happen I don’t want him rushing things just to make fans happy because they want things to happen I also don’t want him to jump on the first “fair” offer he gets when if he negotiated more he could have got a better dealCorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 12:07 pmI get not rushing it for the fans sake, but with all the supposed interest, there’s something to be said about getting it done before teams start filling the needs elsewhere because you’re dragging your feet, or they just think you’re not serious and they lose interest and the fever for a deal.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2025 11:58 amOf course trades could have been made but I for one don’t want him making trades just to hurry up and make trades to make fans happy. The winter meetings sounded like a good competitive environment with motivated buyers. Hard to imagine something fair wasn’t offered. And when I say “fair” I do mean slight overpay for the convenience of getting a proven win-now type player. I highly doubt anyone is going to ridiculously overpay for two seasons of Brendan Donovan.
