Define “high level.” And Donovan has averaged 3 fWAR the past two seasons, and is projected to deliver 3 fWAR in 2026—he’s a very good, very useful player, but that is not “All Star caliber” production.

Please try to get it through your head: Donovan has a fairly well-defined range of value, and the Cardinals are not going to receive a dollar in exchange for 50 cents.

Seriously. Why do so many expect some megastar return package for two years of a solid, but not spectacular second baseman? I hope Bloom isn’t sitting around greedily awaiting some unrealistic offer like he’s Scott Boras.

If there was anything to that Noah Cameron deal he should’ve been all over that. 5 years of a #3 type pitcher or another similar-value return is as good as it gets. No future MVP or Cy Young is coming back to us for two years of Brendan freaking Donovan.

If the Yankees, indeed, offered Dominguez and Lagrange for Donovan. That would be the close to the criteria for a return that I posted.

With Seattle if they went Arroyo and a prospect a bit further away
you may get both, Arroyo MIGHT become a more athletic BD, more power?

Then aim high with the prospect, Sloan. Seattle has a market that is shrinking
and BD is dirt cheap.

Over his career, he’s got a 117 OPS+ over +2000 PA. He’s in his Prime, on the correct side of 30, consistent, can play multiple positions, and is very affordable.

The Royals traded Aaron Brooks and Sean Manaea for a 34 year old Ben Zobrist. At the time, Manaea was the Royals #2 Prospect and Aaron Brooks had ascended to AAA as a serviceable Starter w/a couple outings in the Bigs.

Zobrist didn’t breakout until his age 28 season

But if STL cannot obtain at least 2 quality players in return, there is zero logic in trading him at all.
