Expected to play 1B/DH, which presumably removes them from the Contreras market.
They certainly have pieces we would want. We shall see.... Donnie will cost them far less than the $20M per season Polanco just got.... but will also cost them some pitching most likely. Be interesting....

Yes, I suspect the M's and Cards have been in conversation and perhaps a Donnie deal is in the works. I am sure the M's had a "puke point" in negotiations with Polanco, and the Mutts went over it. Perhaps the dominoes are finally falling.82birds wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:53 amyepbccardsfan wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:47 amThey certainly have pieces we would want. We shall see.... I hope Chaim is paying attention.
I'm sure he is.
lol a big +1
Part of it also is where Marte fits into it. Any team that finds the Diamondbacks asking price to be too hurtful is naturally going to come to us next. Let's hope it turns out that way and we are still able to leverage Donovan for a worthwhile return.bccardsfan wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:55 amYes, I suspect the M's and Cards have been in conversation and perhaps a Donnie deal is in the works. I saw that the Baz and Pepiot offer was deemed not enough by Arizona. My interpretation, is not that the pitchers aren't high enough quality, but that they don't offer enough control and therefore don't represent enough value. They are both 1st year arb in 2026. So I find it very understandable that Arizona wants pitchers with more control, as would we for Donovan. The question is, what is the ceiling of talent Arizona is looking for. Apparently it's astronomical and I hope it is, because that would give us a good selling edge to sell Donovan for just a little less.82birds wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 11:17 amgreat pointC-Unit wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 11:09 amPart of it also is where Marte fits into it. I tend to think Chaim Bloom is aware of that trade unless he takes the weekends off . lol82birds wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:53 amyepbccardsfan wrote: ↑13 Dec 2025 10:47 amThey certainly have pieces we would want.
