MLB.com (Callis, Mayo, Avallone) released their Draft Prospect list ahead of the Draft Lottery on Tuesday, Dec. 9th

they're not as high on a few of My early favorites. Of course, Roch Cholowsky, SS, UCLA, is hands down, consensus #1 pick...it's not even close....for now. But we haven't had a consensus #1 like this in ages. Last year at this time, Holliday battled with Bremner, Hernandez and LaViollette for the top spot.

Ones I've liked for a few years ~ Chris Hacopian...SS (Future 3B/Corner OF), transferred to A&M from Maryland. A.J. Gracia, RF/CF (corner OF is his destination), transferred to Virginia from Duke...followed his Head Coach, as did most of the Blue Devil Team. Ace Reese, 1B/3B/OF, Mississippi State.

It's a STRONG college hitting class again...might be better than 2024. We'll see.

Highschool crop might rival last years strong class.

Those two ingredients combined might make this one of the strongest drafts in recent memory....very little fall off throughout the 1st round...you don't usually see that. There's usually a cliff somewhere in the first round....after the 9th pick in the 1st round in 2024, and then another one around the 19th pick in 2024. I think this draft will yield B tier prospects all the way through the Comp A round...with A and S tier 1-15. That's exciting.

Of course...they need to play baseball this spring....you know, Cart before the Horse thing.

Enjoy...I won't be around for the College season this year, so I won't be doing a draft board. So this is my only foray for the amateur draft this season. My little hit of Dopamine ;) I'll start a Draft Lottery GDT on Tuesday if you all don't mind? I won't be upset if we draft 13th, it's that good of a class.

Cholowsky can stick at SS, so that gives him the leg up on most of the class.

He led UCLA to the CWS last year. Incredible bat...likely 30/30 Double/HR bat in the majors.

I guess we should Win the entire Lottery on Tuesday

Thanks Duce.
Your posts are a holiday present in general, but no one here covers prospects like you.

I’d be related to Dan cholowsky who used to be a cardinals prospect?

In my humble opinion.... "S Tier" would be Cholowsky, Emerson, Lombard and Boleman. Just one college kid in Cholowsky...the other 3 are HS...Boleman the lone pitcher.

this is subject to change throughout the year. But if we had Top 4 pick...I'd want one of those....yes, yes...I know many of us have "Win Now" philosophy, and drafting HS prepsters takes sometime to develop...but I give you examples of Clark, Griffin (knocking on the door in 2026...same draft class as Wetherholt), Willits looked good in early AB's with the Nats Low A team. The risk might be worth it.

My hope...if we land a Lottery Pick, 1-6, my early favorites have wonderful seasons at the plate and vault into the Top 10. Having one of those players fast tracked into our OF by 2027/2028....wowsers.

Awesome! I met Dan Cholowsky when I was a kid and he played for Arkansas super cool guy signed autographs for me and my sister and after he signed a ball for me and threw it to me so I could catch it in my glove when you’re a kid that kind of stuff blows your mind and I was floating on cloud 9 for weeks afterwards good for him and his son

That's great, Ozzie. I love stories like that. Roch is going to be a really good pro player....and with your connection there, I bet you'll be following him, no matter where he plays.

As much as I want the Cards to be pitching hogs for the foreseeable future, a college OF bat to pair with Baez for the 27 or 28 season would be nice. Maybe Mitchell will speed through and make the team by 2028 as our CF. Sounds nice paired with a JJ(3B), Ortiz(1B), Rodriguez (C/DH), Herrera, (DH/C) infield possibility. Lots of good hitters.

Then, pitching, pitching, pitching, lol.

I either want pick #1, or pick #8. It’s either rock, or I’d rather drop out of the lottery and grab a drew burress.

It's hard to take these rankings very seriously. Things change quite often from now until July. Cholowsky does look like about the most slam dunk 1/1 going into the season that we've seen in some time. Looks to be pretty deep with college hitters and prep hitters and pitchers. We're bound to see a college pitcher or two make some kind of meteoric rise though. If Bogenpohl out of Missouri state can make more consistent contact he will rise into the top ten for sure.

What's the worst we could draft? The best?
