CT reaction to a Donovan trade ?

If I had to guess what the CT reaction will be if Donovan is traded at the upcoming Winter Meetings, I think the highest percentage will say:

I don’t feel Bloom received enough in return
Followed by ‘ it was OK but not thrilled …
Then Highly disappointed

Least might be.. that was far more than I expected

Always will be a couple that say
Bloom got fleeced and on the other end of the spectrum
Bloom got a steal in this deal

Your thoughts

I’m guessing the ones complaining and saying that they should keep him and extend him will complain and those who think he should be traded will be satisfied and those that aren’t ever happy about anything ever will continue to not be happy

The reply will definitely be "he could have gotten more", as if any fans here actually have an idea of the offers.

Don't know. Don't really expect clarity on who wins a deal like this for years.

Some over value our guys and under value prospects. others the reverse.

Exactly ! He is a very popular player and why I expect more complaints in the trade return than support.

For a reason. How many traded prospects have turned into superstars vs how many have disappointed or just turned into JAGs?

Wainwright
Freese - for a couple years
a couple others

There's a risk adjustment to expected production that has to be applied to unproven players.

The Cardinals have very rarely in the past traded players for prospects they have pretty much just started doing that the last few years and they don’t get much because mo was an idiot for waiting until the deadline and selling low on pending free agents. But I get it you’re going to keep complaining and complaining about everything and being delusional and thinking the cards can trade a few meh players for tatis and then sign three all stars and win the World Series because everyone is wanting to come play for a team that hasn’t been relevant since 2019. And the cardinals woes and mos butchering of player development has been well documented and is another reason prospects haven’t panned out

True. And let's not forget. Waino had some very underwhelming minor league stats. ERAs consistently mid 3s to mid 4s. We've got to trust the process and be patient.

My reaction will be - since I can't know what other offers were actually available, I'll have to assume that Bloom got the most he could from the deal. If it is at all reasonable, I will think it was in the Cardinals best interest to move on and do the deal to help with the rebuild.

Other than duce' and others who really follow the minor leaguers the immediate reaction by most including me will be, "Who's that"?

Unlike Mo who I lost trust in many years ago, I trust C. Bloom and his staff to do their homework and land the player(s) they want.

But it will take a year (or two) for us to know if the trade pans out.

Fingers crossed it does since Donny is his best trade chip and should bring back the best return.

Unless we trade him for someone already in the Majors but young, like Pages. Or maybe someone ready to promote now, like Jones or similar.

For Donovan I think you need to get the closest to a sure thing that's possible, even if it requires adding someone else. Not just a high upside/high risk lotto ticket that's 3 years away and maybe never.

Hate to see him go but I agree this is the right time for a trade of Donovan. My reaction will hopefully be Donovan, thanks for the memories, best of luck (expect when you play against the Cards).
