Anyone want to take a flyer on him? The Braves non-tendered him so he's a FA. Was once a cy young caliber pitcher until arm health and conditioning caused him to fall off. Maybe put him in the BP? Worth a shot imo

I thought about him as well. We could take a flyer on him if he will accept a minor league deal. Not sure if he will get offered a major league deal or not. But he seems like the type of upside guy we could go after. He is still fairly young and was an all-star at one point.

What could it hurt? There's no such thing as a bad minor league deal.
Worst case scenario, you invite him to spring camp and if he sucks you cut him loose.

He had two good years in Toronto. Third in CYA voting. Fell off cliff in 2023. Was option to triple A- failed to report for 11 days. That was two years ago.
He’d fit a young rebuild but does he set the proper example needed in a culture change environment.

I'm on board with Manoah and any other high ceiling players we can sign to minor league deals with NRI to ST. Let's buy some lottery tickets.

Yeah that’s the only scenario I’d consider. He has to accept that he’d be headed to the minors.
We just saw two teams let him go that didn’t have to and he looked awful coming off TJ.

He's pitched a total of 169 innings since 2023.
None of them any good...

H/9 and K/9 not good enough to compensate for high BB/9. At age 27 what is your plan? Put him in the St Louis bullpen or AAA?

Not great, but not terrible either. Manoah only had 4 starts in 2024. In two he pitched 7 innings and did not give up earned runs. In the other two he got hit around.
In 2025, Manoah pitched 33.1 innings in AAA with a 2.97 ERA, 30 K's but 18 BB's. Seems Manoah is a decent buy low!

That's across 7 games. Not even 5 innings and had a 1.35 WHIP
I have no issue with an invite but I expect he's done
Even ATL, who people say needs pitching, recently let him go

Suggestions like this are exactly the type of lottery ticket moves the team should actually pursue. Not trading established talent for A-ball guys, which is likely what they’ll do.

What is wrong with trading existing talent that doesn’t fit the rebuild for high ceiling prospects then fill in the roster with guys like Manoah, Buehler or May? Have them eat innings then flip them at the deadline.
Gray served zero benefit to the team for 2026 other than a trade piece.

Donovan is young enough to fit the rebuild. Unless they make it an excruciatingly long rebuild from running off the little proven talent we have and spend absolutely nothing in free agency, leaving a bunch of young scrubs with no veteran leadership or competition to make them actually work and earn a job. That aspect is way too overlooked.
Young players won’t thrive being on an embarrassment of a team without competition, consequence, or standards. Prospects that haven’t even made it to and shown consistent success at AA shouldn’t be considered “high-end”. Especially when their team is already willing to give up on them.
