Does Bloom have a plan to develop the talent already in the majors?

Or is his focus so far out that he expects few to 0 of our 2025 roster to be on the next pennant team?

What’s his evaluation of our current roster position players. Are there any worth keeping and matching with the right development staff to get to the next level? Or just wait until they are all replaced by Blooms guys born after 2003?

Also as he keeps hiring new coaches - do any ever get fired? What does it take to fail enough to be replaced?

Apparently a lot given the rumours of Oli being extended:)

Well he’s bringing back primarily the same coaching staff that couldn’t develop the scrubs like Gorman and walker so I would say no he’s taking a page from mo and hoping and praying they figure it out

The ramblings of someone who has no idea what a rebuild looks like

Reports are that Walker has been doing instructional work in Florida. So that is something. Gorman could potentially be traded this winter. Nootbaar is also on the block. As for Scott, who knows? Hopefully somebody teaches him how to hit. And maybe convince him he's not as good as he thinks he currently is.

I'm sure Bloom and the Cardinals have a plan to develop talent already on the ML roster. Whether that plan will work or not, and how much improvement they will show, remains to be seen.

You never want to see young players go straight backwards for two consecutive seasons, like both Gorman and Walker did in 2024-2025. There is a lot to make up for and a lot less time in their team control years to do so.

I would expect Bloom and Co. spent some of the last year assessing whether they believed Gorman and/or Walker were salvageable and how to go about that salvage operation.

That's a lot of questions, Carp! I count six in total. I doubt Bloom would provide a straight answer to any of them in public, except your question about developing MLB players. Much has been reported about the guidance and suggestions that have been provided to Jordan Walker about his stance, position in the box, swing plane, etc. I heard a couple references during the season about how it is up to the player to receive these messages and adjust accordingly. If guys like Walker, Scott and Gorman cannot or will not make adjustments to their hitting approach, what choice do we have but to move on from them? Unless a player is OPSing at a .800+ clip, which would indicate extra power/slug, we cannot keep a .200ish batting average in our lineup.

Bloom has. O skins in this lineup. These are BeBe kids. I’m sure he has a plan to cover the current crop. But, I bet it’s not the same plan as to when he has all his players. He has a plan for this roster and a completely different idea about a roster carved by his own doing.

I heard on a Randy Karriker STL central podcast that Bloom and his guys instituted a specific off season program working with Walker.
Unsure if Cerfolio was the guy but Karriker said it was happening at location in Florida but not Jupiter as that is going under rennovation.
So there are things being done. Maybe more will be revealed by some of the sports writers later this winter.
The STL sports central podcasts on YouTube have some good content if you want to check it out. Bernie, Randy snd others contribute daily. They do an hour all can view free but also offer a 2nd hour by subscription thst I have not purchased so far.

With two years under his belt there's no doubt C. Bloom has seem enough of Norman, JWalk, ect...to know who's career they think they can re-hab and who's a lost cause.

If he starts Walker at Memphis, then we know he still thinks they can turn him around.

If he deals Gorman, well duh we know the answer.

He's also probably got some idea's about Libby, how to get him to the next level.

Of course he does. What kind of question is that?

In fact, there's an article out today talking about Jordan Walker and his offseason plan that is pretty interesting.

Rock, you are so enamored with Bloom.

If Bloom can get the 2023 versions of Gorman and Walker, give him and whomever helped accomplish it a raise.

I understand Bloom is the POBO but I would guess that his main focus is building the roster?
Of course he will have input on players but “development” to me would be more on the Coaching Staff.
