Possible 2026 AAA Memphis starting rotation
It looks like if Mathews doesn't make the mlb club, the AAA rotation could consist of at least Mathews, Rajcic, Mautz, Hansen and Henderson. That's a pretty good initial 5, with the three of Mathews, Mautz and Henderson really peaking my interest. No matter what our big league rotation ends up starting like this season, we should have a really solid pool of depth just waiting to graduate.
That's not including the standard arms of eternal injury, Hence, Hjerpe and Roby, if any of them get healthy fast, we could really start to see some good homegrown talent all ready at about the same time. And that's not even mentioning Doyle, who may leapfrog to AAA or the majors within the next 2 years. Plus the many other arms Bloom is likely to add that could be almost ready.
I have no problem with Bloom signing an mlb starter, or 2, to a one year(2 max) contract. But, bottom line, there is quality starting pitching help on the way in the minors, and it is closer than a lot of people think.

I hope Doyle goes straight to AAA so he can start working with the major league ball immediately.

From what I have seen Doyle has a way to go and should be allowed to work on his secondary pitches and shown patience.
But Springfield also may have Doyle, Clarke and Lin, each of whom may be special pitchers...or not.

2 1/3 innings 5 strikeouts, 4 walks and 80 pitches.
Re: Possible 2026 AAA Memphis starting rotation
Even if Doyle starts in AA , I think he will be advanced fairly quickly not so much about how he is throwing but Bloom and the boys may want to challenge him vs. much better hitters in AAA . See how he does vs. better competition and more selective hitters, batter bat to ball skills etc.billybaseball wrote: ↑26 Nov 2025 20:49 pm I hope Doyle goes straight to AAA so he can start working with the major league ball immediately.
See how he overcomes some tough times.

One thing I know about C. Bloom, he doesn't like to rush young starters to MLB.
Wants to make sure they'll fully developed and ready for the rigors of making 30+ starts before bringing them up.
I'd expect Doyle to start no higher than AA.

Rotation...
Mathews
Henderson
Mautz
Rajcic (maybe he improves?)
those are probably your only guaranteed 4...and that's if Mathews doesn't make the 26man out of camp. Also, Leahy might be stashed in AAA at any given time during 2026.
I don't think Hansen makes it through the R5 draft...if he does then he may join the AAA rotation. Don't forget about Bedell and Robberse (who was re-signed to a Minor League deal last week).
I wouldn't start Hjerpe's rehab in AAA, but it'll probably be done.

I hope you are right. Rushing hitters is worse than rushing pitchers though.rockondlouie wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 08:54 am One thing I know about C. Bloom, he doesn't like to rush young starters to MLB.

#1- IF I legitimately thought that Hansen would be claimed, I would try to include him in a deal first.craviduce wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:26 am Rotation...

I've lost track, where is Winquest ready to play- AA or AAA?

if he's healthy he's back to AA depth...I'd imagine.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:31 am#1- IF I legitimately thought that Hansen would be claimed, I would try to include him in a deal first.craviduce wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:26 am Rotation...

Thanks. It seems like a pretty safe bet that when the trades are done there will be other arms to consider for the rotation. It's early, but never to early to be Talkin' Baseball!craviduce wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:40 amif he's healthy he's back to AA depth...I'd imagine.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:31 am#1- IF I legitimately thought that Hansen would be claimed, I would try to include him in a deal first.craviduce wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:26 am Rotation...

yeah...there's no finality to my list or any list for that matter. Trades, R5 Drafts, Injuries, Promotions, etc...all factor in.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑28 Nov 2025 11:47 amThanks. I wish I was here for Spring Training this year. This is going to be fun one.
