"The Orioles are hiring former Padres manager Mike Shildt as their upper-level minor league coordinator of instruction,

This may be what he is best at.

Yes that seems to be a good fit for Shildt. I wish him well.

I think so. He helped clean up the Cards' fundamentals which had slipped by the end of Matheny's tenure. Their 17 game win streak was amazing, too. He seems too intense and takes things too personally to last long in the dugout.

He’s insane. Seems to lose it when the heat is on. Oh well hopefully he is right-sized

Hopefully he chills out and doesn't go off on any coworkers in Baltimore. Sounded like he almost got his (donkey) kicked in SD. Beef up those chicken arms before you brawl, Mikey!

Shildt was a George Kissell type instructor in the Cardinals organization and learned much from Mr. Kissell. Every good organization needs one these type instructors in the minors. Sounds like a great move by the Orioles.

Found him to be an astute baseball man. Responsible for some solid Redbird and Padre seasons, its my gut feeling his talents and aptitude may be as a teacher of the game,

If rumors are correct his mouth got him fired in St Louis. He quit a MLB managerial job to take a minor league position. Probably why a guy who has played MLB ball is the best choice because he has endured failure many times.
