Wow. Don't know what else they have planned but I think Bichette/Tucker would have been money better spent, safer investments...

...And people wondered on various threads of this chat if the Cards should sign him to jump start the rebuild...If there are any questions why the Cards are doing what they are doing, I hope this answered them, the prices are outrageous.

Prices aren’t going to change. Despite what baseball would like us to believe, there is so much money in baseball. Money is the cheapest commodity in baseball. Everyone has it. Some more than others but there’s plenty of it.
We can only take BDW word for it about what he has or doesn’t have. BDW tells us it’s a poor investment but he certainly isn’t going anywhere. Now the Cardinals can add revenue sharing dollars to what he doesn’t have.

6 teams were in on Cease. Pitching is going to cost -a premium. Cardinals have a refuse to spend owner. Until that changes fans must follow his lead

BDW's comment about baseball being a poor investment when he has made 20X on his Cards investment is a great example of how out of touch billionaires are. Sure the business may not have great cash flow, but neither does my investment in Nvidia stock...
BDW appeared to get distracted by Ballpark Village, diversified the ownership of that from the baseball team, which led to promises of BPV helping to fund payroll to become false promises. Other teams like the Dodgers figured out how to expand their revenue base. I have no idea what their overall ownership structure is across those bases. But it did not stop the Dodgers. BDW has no excuse for taking his eye off the golden goose.

I know the cost of pitching is at a premium especially when you’re talking about a FA(just $$ no talent in exchange).
But.....there is no effing way I give Dylan Cease 7 years!!

$30M per year is about the average rate for the top tier pitchers in baseball . Remember back when the top pitchers were getting $20M range and some fans thought Wow ! How can it reach $20M Keeps going up and up ! Just like my groceries
