Team estimated he would get $12M in arbitration.
Team felt he was not worth that price point , according to Steve Phillips on MLB Tonight show.

He's fallen off both offensively and defensively.
But if he and Arozarena had been the Cards' outfielders for the past 5 years, they would have been the most productive OFs the Cards have had for that period.
Roz - averaged 123 wRC+ and was incredibly clutch.
Garcia - averaged 102 wRC+ and helped his team win a WS.

Numbers similar to Gorman. I'd take a pass.

I would sign him for releasable money. 1 year /2mil?
Flip him or release him if he blows.

Garcia was a GG nominee last year and despite a bad offensive season managed 19 HRs and 75 RBI. If 37 year old Pham could pull $4mm from the miserly Pirates I think someone will go 6-8 with Garcia. If the Cards were close to contention he might be worth a look.

If he is looking for anything above $6 million per, the Cardinals should pass.

I think if he wants more than 2 or 3 mil DeWitt will pass.

It was a good thing for Garcia that he took that 2 yr./$14 million deal back after then end of the 2023 season instead of going the ARB route.

With his ability to control the running game and his leather with some power don’t you think he’ll remain in the league for 1-2 more years?
He played a ~3 bWAR last year

He played a ~3 bWAR last year
0.7 fWAR in 2025, -0.1 fWAR in 2024.
His entire value right now is being driven by his defense, and how individual teams will evaluate defense (as evidenced by the split between bWAR and fWAR) is unpredictable.
He'll probably get take-it-or-leave-it offers for like 1 yr./$3-$4 million, but I doubt any team will value him highly enough to manipulated into making a second, higher bid if he says no.

No doubt he’s taking a reduced number than his arbitration no question imo. But to think he won’t be making 3-4 (I like your projection) on a one year deal imo is foolish.
Any given year he can give you excellent defense and his arm controls the run game.
His aggregates HR / RBIs are rated at ~75th in the league.
He’s no Luke Voit.

He had a wRC+ of 94 and 83 the last two years. So while he is aggregating, he's costing you a lot of outs in the process. Teams will notice that.
Luke Voit was actually wRC+ 121 for his career. So, yeah, he's no Luke Voit.
