In the P-D yesterday, Boras is quoted as saying - "The word 'budget' is a barrier to success in sport."

Oh oh. Here it comes. Storm clouds gathering.

Say what you want, but along with a few stupid owners, Scott Boras is mostly what is wrong with the system we currently have! Boras doesn’t care about the game in itself. All he is concerned about is putting money in his pocket. You can say, no his clients’ pockets, but the more they make the more he makes! He's just a former minor leaguer who couldn’t cut it and now is to get all he can get, no matter how much it damages the game!

Boros has been a terrific businessman. Sure, we don't agree with him often, but there has always been an owner that pays.

That is mostly true.

Remember when he touted his client Barry Zito as a cinch Hall of Famer before the Giants stupidly signed him?

Some GMs won't deal with him because of his ethics.

One Midwest exec wouldn’t deal with him because the exec’s brain matter wouldn’t fit in a thimble.

A GM I know gave a specific example of his poor ethics.

Could you share what happened? Even at a high level to keep things anonymous?

But at end of the day the owners are to blame. No one has held a gun to their heads to make agreements with his players or any others.

+1 he’s an agent his job is to get the most money for his people. The owners are the ones who agree to it so it’s all on the owners not the players or agents

that's his job, putting money in his pockets by way of his clients pockets. As they say, don't hate the player. I'd do the same if i were him

Sure. He went to the GM friend of mine and told him that he’d better up his offer for a FA player because a rival GM in the same division was hot after him and kept upping his offer. That the player could put the other team over the top in the division. My GM friend decided not to up his offer, and the player signed with a team in a different division. Several months later, the two GMs talked and the players name came up. The rival GM said they had never had any interest in that player. Boras had lied about another offer.

Any GM who DIDN’T know Booras plays this game is really naive.
He’s always claiming interest from more teams than really are interested.

Funny that people hate on Boras. He is NOT the reason salaries climbed. If he didn't exist other agents would have achieved the same result. He represents HIS clients as he should. The problem isn't the players, agents or even owners. It is ALL of them to have created this system that skews the game towards the wealthy teams and strips the poorer teams from any chance. That will hurt baseball long run.

2027 they have a chance to repair the system. I don't have much hope.
