Mike Claiborne says watching this year’s playoffs made him think about what Oliver Marmol could do with a postseason roster #STLCards
“I’m watching the baseball playoffs, and I’m saying to myself, ‘Man, I can’t wait to see Oli Marmol manage in the Postseason.’”
Isn’t Claibs a daily part of the KMOX radio broadcast??
I’m assuming he was around in ‘22 when Oli let an injured Helsley stay on the mound and lose a winnable playoff game against Phils
I’m assuming Claibs was watching this June with the team a game or 2 behind the Cubbies with back to back series and lil OLI aligns his rotation to throw ace Gray ONCE while having a god awful puke pair of Miles and Fedde pitching and losing FOUR of those games thus killing the Cards season the rest of the way
But Claibs wants to see what lil OLI can do in the playoffs…..

Claibs seems to be a very nice man, but I’m sorry, he and Oli are both in over their heads. I can really only listen to Chip or Rooney call a Cards game. I mute Horton or Brad.

A lot of posters have been wanting more 'homers' for the Cardinals !

Clabs = Pitiful announcer = No credibility if he thinks Oli is a good Manager.
And we SAW what Oli would do in the playoffs, he froze like a deer in the headlights while his closer melted down.
It's a disgrace that he's in the KMOX booth.

I used to listen to him, Rammer, Slaten, Randolph(RIP) during PEAK STL AM sports radio drivetime for YEARS. He was clueless then and played himself off as an anti establishment type. To my great surprise when he was hired by KMOX on the Cards radio team. The guy the furthest thing from a polished broadcaster that you could find and mostly an idiot. Now he’s kissing boot…..

Claiborne has mellowed since the days prior to his Cardinals employment. I'm sure it pays well.

"But Claibs wants to see what lil OLI can do in the playoffs…"
Evidently a sportscaster who believes they know the Cardinals but evidently never has attended or watched any Cards games. NOvel approach but predictable.

Honestly, I used to like listening to Claibs. Now, he is a Kool-Aid drinking idiot who has sold out for the paycheck.

What's the problem, exactly? That he wants to see Oli managing the Cardinals in the postseason? So do I. It means the Cardinals made the playoffs. I'm not saying he's a genius. I want to be a playoff team.

This was a clip with him talking to Karracker……he was boasting how if Oli had some talent that he would be Robert’s like during a playoff run
Again, he had talent in ‘22 and froze like a puppy on ice. He was a game out this last June and let 2 of worst P in baseball start 4 games back to back Cubbies series……he’s a robotic idiot.

There’s a difference between a homer and a total idiot.

Okay??
I'm not a big Oli fan, but he was also a rookie manager and you're judging him by one game. TLR had a major fiasco with his bullpen that probably lost us a huge game in the World Series. He's probably had a lot more mistakes that you could roast him for as well. He also managed for 35 years, so a lot of those things are forgotten. I know plenty of fans thought he was a choker after 2004. And it took him 11 years before a team he managed even made the playoffs.
So, yeah. I'm not going to overreact to a Cardinals employee saying something this so innocuous.

You’re comparing Oli to TLR…..losing a WS to a RedSox buzz saw. This has nothing to do with TLR. Oli has no feel for the game in front of him
He batted Contreras 2nd when if you looked at WC LIFETIME stats….his best spot in the order by far is 5th
He kept NA at cleanup about a yr longer than justified.
He pulled cruising starters……and leaves in pitchers getting pummeled.
He’s not a good manager
But the guy who follows him everyday and watches every game….lives with the team. Says he can’t wait to see him play chess in the playoffs???
What great stategery have you ever witnessed Oli perform on a baseball field managing a team??

Claibs is a media mouthpiece for the Cardinals. I'm guessing he went down this route as they may have apporached him about more broadcast time if he through his support their way. It's a terrible narrative that the St. Louis media has to bow to the Cardinals and can't be objective.
