Good morning.
Just only for a rebuild. No moneys really spent. No huge additions. Basically going with what we got.
Maybe a .500 team at best. Rebuild year two and a half.
Infield.
Gorman first
Donovan second/third
Winn SS
JJ third/second.
Bernal catcher
Outfield.
Walker
Scott
Burleson
One super sub.
Herrera DH
Staff
Number one.
Gray number two
Libby number three
Mcg number four
Number five
This is just playing in house players minus the staff. I’d say .500 at best. Mucho money saved. Lockout comes and goes.
Just a musing on a cold early morning. Enjoy.

Scott would end up on the 60 day IL to recover from exhaustion before July rolled around.

The Burleson in left was a stretch. I knew that. Wanted his stick.

Suggested infield has some merit.

Why thank you. You can move second/third anyway you want. I just thought JJ will give more power at third than Donovan.
Gorman at first. His right handed glove covers he line. Less demanding than second, maybe third. Better on back issue. May hit if he finds a permanent infield solution.
Scott to good to discount. Walker. I know. We can only hope.

Naturally most think Burleson should inherit first if Willy leaves. I agree he would do very well there. But that crowds Gorman again. I’m trying to include him for 600 predicable at bats.
Just working with what I got.

Are you assuming Willson will be traded?

Yes. And Nado. Saves a few dollars. Give Gorman his chance. Doesn’t cost the team. Same with JJ at third. I envision George Brett numbers.
That’s why I moved Burleson to left. He’d make a fine first baseman. On a rebuild.

WillyCon is your 1b. Walker is in AA or AAA and will have to prove his work and worth to move back to MLB. I cringe if the KKKorn is the starting 3b. Pages/Crooks are catchers. Super heavy LH lineup.

Herrera is going to be given every opportunity to catch. Bloom said so. Herrera wants to. Also after watching the interview it's clear they aren't going to sign anyone. I don't think they'll make a single free agent signing. They're determined to cut payroll to the bone. If they can't win by cheaping out and getting draft picks then they'll just lose and be the whipping dogs for the Dodger's and Yankee's of the MLB. It's a sad state to see. They could easily spend 180 - 200 million on payroll and give the team a fighting chance but no, they're going to go cheap and hope for lightning from lesser talents. It's clear that Bloom was brought here to cut payroll and sound smart.

Someone please inform me about this “rebuild”……
We wait around using the tired parts we’ve seen until what??
Bloom has historic drafts each season where they all become all-stars in 4-5 yrs?
Bloom trades for really good players with other teams exchanging them to Cards out of sympathy?
BDW one year in the future decides to spend real money on top FA’s finally?
How is this talent going to be acquired during this “rebuild” we hear about every day??
And by the time this all happens most of the players who worth keeping from this current quad will most likely cycle out……..

You know the jargon. What ever we are in, give it your own name, it will apply. Rebuild. Reset. Funk.
Exactly the point. Where will this talent come from- the FA and trade pools are shallow. So you gamble.

I just don’t see this team being a strong playoff squad with a couple top FA….which means BDW spending money. So either he spends today or 5 yrs from now. Everyone points to a lockout…..if that’s the destination then we watch a AAAA team until BDW is comfortable to spend

Yea. I’d think they are better. Top FA meaning a hitter and League level Ace.
I think those additions come, and like u stated, the imposing lockout.
