What if in a couple years JJ and Winn are the best middle infield in baseball. Liam Doyle and Mathews are a one two punch. One of our catchers actually develops into an all star. What if, bloom gets us close enough that BDW final opens his wallet and signs a superstar. I have to believe. Don’t know any other way. Been a die hard cardinal fan my entire life, and will die that way.

Could happen. I worry some about Mathews. For much of the season he wasn't the same pitcher. He did end well, so that offers a glimmer of hope.

Maybe they'll sign Donovan back as a free agent after we trade him for a haul of prospects.

Then they will be a NLC contender but to win a WS they must be top 10 in Slug. Having 3 defensive only players limits that. To compensate they will need a top 10 slug at the remaining 6 spots. Until legit power is added the upside is limited.
