His option was declined by the Rays. He is a free agent. Bring the boy home. Let him be the closer for the few games the Cards might win this year.

I think it’s a cool idea.

I would hope the Cards would be in play to sign him.

I was hoping we'd bring the Tiger home last season mid year, he'd be an excellent "experienced" piece for the pen'.

After reading this from C. Bloom, he may be the type of guy he's looking for:

“You know you never have enough out there and there's always value not just to the on-field work that the right bullpen additions can give you – but also what they can do for you in the clubhouse and mentorship of young players. That’s been a feature of most clubs that I've been around and that's really helpful, too. So we’ll take a look at that.”

Welcome Alex

From this we now know C. Bloom isn't adverse to bring in some veteran RP's.

I’m no expert but I think they need 2 quality relief pitchers added if they want to seriously compete.

I could see that happening.

Just look how well P. Maton pitched for just $2M!

Bargains can be found for the pen' and I'd bet Bloom will find one or two.

Pete Fairbanks is projected to receive a 2- to 3-year contract worth approximately $18–24 million total, that does not sound like Cards. Think we have minor leaguers for that.
