Congrats to Bernal!
What does this mean, if anything, with our current crop of catchers?

It means STL has a very, very valuable trade piece at a position of outstanding organization depth - as I have perfectly analyzed and shared with all several times previously.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 20:36 pm Congrats to Bernal!

So you want to trade the Cardinals catcher of the future? Sheeesh. You really don’t understand building from within, do you?Melville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:04 amIt means STL has a very, very valuable trade piece at a position of outstanding organization depth - as I have perfectly analyzed and shared with all several times previously.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 20:36 pm Congrats to Bernal!

Catcher on this team is a position of need. This guy will not get worse, as I doubt the ML running game will over burden him.Melville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:04 amIt means STL has a very, very valuable trade piece at a position of outstanding organization depth - as I have perfectly analyzed and shared with all several times previously.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑02 Nov 2025 20:36 pm Congrats to Bernal!

Perhaps you should dwell on the phrase "organizational depth".Cranny wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:06 amSo you want to trade the Cardinals catcher of the future? Sheeesh. STL has 3 catchers in among their top 5 prospects - and probably will rely on Pages for at least one more year.
So yes, that is an area from which STL can and should trade - in order to add talent in other positions.
It is a perfect and brilliant example of precisely how to build from within.
It really is.WLTFE wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:13 amEasyMelville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:11 amPerhaps you should dwell on the phrase "organizational depth.Cranny wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:06 amSo you want to trade the Cardinals catcher of the future? Correct
In two years Bernal will be the Cardinals catcher, Rodriguez will not be a catcher at all, and Crooks could very well be gone.Melville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:36 amIt really is.WLTFE wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:13 amEasyMelville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:11 amPerhaps you should dwell on the phrase "organizational depth.Cranny wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:06 amSo you want to trade the Cardinals catcher of the future? Crooks will get a look in 2026 with a high probability of being the primary starter for 2027.
Rodriguez is considered by many as having the highest ceiling - particularly offensively - of the 3 STL catching prospects.
Bernal, also an excellent prospect, is sandwiched between the 2.
He is not ready now as Crooks is and may well be leapfrogged by Rodriguez as "next man up" within the next 18 months.
The situation could not possibly be more obvious - if STL deals one of the 3 this off-season to add needed talent (pitching!) at other positions, trading Bernal is the CORRECT BASEBALL DECISION.
For the past several years, I alone correctly advised trading Hence as he was climbing the prospect rankings and eventually landed at #1.
Everyone said I was wrong.
Obviously, I was the only person on the planet who got it right.
I am right about the STL Cardinal catcher situation as well.
That is more certain than sunrise.
If any team wants any of the catchers including Herrera, Contreras, CrooksMelville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:36 amIt really is.WLTFE wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:13 amEasyMelville wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:11 amPerhaps you should dwell on the phrase "organizational depth.Cranny wrote: ↑03 Nov 2025 08:06 amSo you want to trade the Cardinals catcher of the future? or Pages/Pozo the team would be making an unforced error not to listen.
Seems more than 1 should be in conversations.
