It's like the night before Christmas

The trading period starts tomorrow. And a very important opportunity for Bloom to help the roster. It will be interesting to see if Bloom "hits the ground running" with a trade. Or waits a while to gauge the FA activity and the market activity of other trades. Mo seemed rather passive, at times. Hopefully, Bloom will be more aggressive.

Are any FAs in DeWitt's price range? Because the Cardinals could sure use a solid veteran starting pitcher. Especially, if Gray is traded away. Jack Flaherty is only 30. He may be affordable.

BDWJr will probably only allow C. Bloom to shop at KMart this offseason (Re: under $5M AAV deals) and only if he can shave off salary via trading S. Gray, NADO and possibly WillyC.

I expect he will come right out of the gate by signing a 35 year old SP nobody has ever heard of to a 1year/$10 mil deal.

And the mood in the Cardinal State Media will be like the French when Lindbergh landed. Viva la Chaim!!!

Bernie will talk for 45 minutes about how only Bloom could look at a player like this and see past his terrible numbers and old age to find the courage to pay him twice the money he's worth. Bernie will then read an ad for boner pills, and return to ponder why Bloom has not yet been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

There are two intriguing Japanese corner infielder sluggers that might be of interest to the Cardinals. As well as an outstanding starting pitcher.

I hope for an eventful hot stove from the Cardinals. But I expect very little.

Maybe Nootbaar can help recruit one of them. As I recall, Noot is pretty popular in Japanese baseball circles.

I don't understand the logic behind trading away Gray and then having to go spend money to replace him. Our rotation is very thin as is.

Maybe help get two decent pitchers for the $35 million Gray would receive next season.
