I wasn't aware the Angels had any pitchers to coach.

Man, Maddux must've really hated working with Marmol in Texas.

Wait a minute.

Mike’s family must’ve moved to CA

He and Texas couldn't come to an agreement. He has money. I'd take substantially less to avoid that dumpster fire in Anaheim. The be near family thing lasted three whole years.

Didn’t the Rangers fire/let go Bochy? Likely, Maddux was looking at leaving anyway. The new mgr will want his own PC. LAA seems like a dumpster fire. Forever.

That wasn’t why he left. That was the narrative Mozeliak wanted fans to believe, just like he wanted people to think Jeff Albert left because of criticism on social media.

Neither of those stories he told were true.

Why do you still believe them?

Mozeliak basically told everyone Maddux had been doing this for a long time and was ready for a change of pace to spend more time with his family… and Maddux continues to prove that was blatantly false.

Why do I believe him? lol because neither of them refuted what he said. If he lied they would have said no he’s lying or that’s not why they left. Neither did. Now they might have lied to him about their reasons for leaving but since they didn’t refute what he said yea I believe it’s true. Now I know you think that anyone who doesn’t believe your baseless conspiracy theories is “willfully ignorant” but I’m not into believing baseless conspiracy theories I Need some proof other than old friend telling me it’s true. I mean mo never said Maddox was retiring you’re the only one who said he said that

They demonstrated that those narratives were blatantly false through their actions. They didn’t need to say anything.

This isn’t 1985. Managers no longer pick their own staffs. Maybe they get to pick their bench coach, but the rest are organizational hires.

The last news I saw about Texas was Bochy was being replaced. Offered a job in the front office.

I'd love to have him back in St Louis. I wonder if Bloom reached out.

There's always dialog on why coaches are fired or move or switch duties. The explanations are probably never exactly the truth.

Rangers moved Bochy out of manager and reportedly offered him a job in the organization. Then Rangers hired Skip Schumaker on a 4 year contract. Angels hired Kurt Suzuki on a 1 year contract. Perhaps Maddux isn't impressed with Schumaker and with Suzuki only getting a 1 year deal he could be in line for the manager job.

Texas allowed fewest runs in MLB in 2025. Maddux wasn't fired. He left because Bochy was gone and he liked the Angels situation better than the Rangers.
