Who would have thought that totally intertwining sports and gambling and sports networks would result in something like this?

Over 31 have been invited as NBA players were used to lure the gamblers to the underground poker games. Money derived , according to the report, was laundered by converting it to crypto currency so tougher to trace.

MLB needs to institute 100% electronic strike zone not the proposed 2 challenges per game for exactly this reason. Easiest sport to rig is MLB because the home plate umpire can fix the strike zone.

The excuse I saw was they didn't want to completely remove the "human element" from the game.

Other pro sports pretty easy too if they wish to be crooked . On a long pass play the umpire can throw a flag for Off. Holding and negate the chance on a TD throw... they say 'holding can be called on nearly every NFL play '
In basketball the difference between a blocking call and charging foul is pretty subjective too.
The refs in WWE wrestling are the most trustworthy as the match is predetermined . So they just are in the ring to give time cues to the wrestlersas to when the match should be ended.

It's relevant to baseball because of the strike zone.

Last I checked DeWitt was all in favor of gambling in baseball.

Why exactly was Pete Rose banned? If he was a MLB owner he would have been perfectly fine.

I hear ya, but isn't it safer in the hands of 1 human behind the plate? If there is egregious fraud it would be easier to find, trace, punish, etc.

But a 100% electronic strikezone means the calls are actually coming from anonymous people behind a curtain that never have to publicly answer to anyone, and can commit and hide fraud easier than a manual umpire.
