Saw that he had surgery on both heels?
Both feet?
Crazy.
So, he may be untradable at this point.
The hits just keep coming, I tell ya!!

He will probably be a non-tendered candidate.

Do you know what Haglunds deformity is? seems he played 135 games last year. More than Winn

Now tell us about Donny, Herrera, Winn, KKKorn. They seem to be often injured. Any of these play more games than Snoot?

If say the Cards players, seem to all have injury concerns

Nope, never heard of Haglunds.
Just asking if he's tradable at this point?
Not how much he'll play or did play.
Probably depends on the time recovery
and the success of the operation.
Read the article.
Not many players with such deformity.
Cespedes only example took long time.

This from the article:

The Cardinals are withholding further comment on Nootbaar’s injuries, and it’s impossible to determine how his medical situation compares to others’ based on available information. What is clear, though, is that the procedure Nootbaar underwent is not minor, and given the rarity of this surgery among athletes who return to play, it could create some wariness in the trade market.

ZERO chance of that happening.

And yes bully, he's definitely still got trade value but it definitely lowers it.

6-12 months:
Full recovery, with possible return to high-impact sports
-Cleveland Clinic

Given Noots age and being a well conditioned athlete, I'd put it closer to the 6 months.

The main problem with Nootbaar is that he has a bad bat.

Most players have some ailments they deal with as playing 100+ games per season take a toll on the body .
We fans just are not privy to the ailments as medical issues are confidential. HIPPA laws prevent disclosure.
Players also rarely will discuss them as the run yhr risk that some fans will say. Oh he mentioned his recent knee pain as excuse for his declining performance. So players Will not divulge .

I think it does make him untradeable for this offseason

It hurts his value, but someone will take him. No chance he returns or gets cut. Both scenarios are nuts.

Nootbaar was never a trade piece. He was always a throw-in

If this timeline is accurate, it probably does make him untradeable this offseason. That's too bad because it sure needed to happen. You adjust, and go on. Best case scenario, he comes back sometime in the first half of the season and rebuilds some value. Who knows, we may get more for him if that scenario plays out than if he was traded now.

Hopefully he's ready for a rehab assignment in April.

But to be honest TB looking at our OF I might just keep Noot if I'm C. Bloom, w/o Noot that's one horrible looking OF.

Like you said, best move may be to keep him and see how he looks at the midseason trading deadline.

Then make the move if you want to deal him.

If the timeline is accurate why did the Cardinals wait until after the season for Noot to have surgery? If the Cardinals think that it will be a year before he recovers then I think you have to consider non-tendering him. I believe that he only has 2 seasons left before he is a free agent. I don't see the Cardinals extending him and I don't see the Cardinals paying for 2 years of Noot if they are only going to get 1 season out of him.

Recovery after Haglund's surgery is challenging for professional athletes, with a mean return-to-competition (RTC) time of over seven months. Studies show that only about 60–76% of athletes successfully return to their sport, and performance may be affected, particularly in high-impact sports. The outcome can vary significantly depending on the athlete's specific condition, the surgical technique used, and the rigor of their rehabilitation.

Return-to-play rates and timelines
Variable return rates: While some studies show encouraging outcomes, overall return-to-play rates for professional athletes after Haglund's surgery are not guaranteed. A 2021 study involving professional athletes with Haglund's deformity reported that only 60% of participants returned to their sports activity and played for at least two full seasons.

Long recovery period: For those who do return, the recovery period is significant. A 2021 study showed a mean RTC time of 7.45 months, but with a wide range from 4 to 18 months. Another resource suggests it can take 9 to 12 months for a full return to sport, emphasizing that not all athletes return to their prior performance level.

If Nootbaar had this condition and the Cardinals knew it, why was he playing the last weekend in Chicago? And if the medical staff didn't know it, that's another issue. This franchise has a sordid history of dealing with medical issues.

Not all bumps are the same.
Neither are the procedures to fix them.

I'm also of the opinion that Nootbaar needs everything just right for him.
Without trying to insult, that minor is not always minor.

He'll need to quit wearing pumps.

I suppose he would want to do this now so that he can go through the healing process and show himself healthy and productive before becoming a free agent in 2 years. No way he gets traded this winter.
