				.. a 97.6% of the time . In 31 of those times, it was a 4-game sweep.
The only team to come back from an 0-3 deficit was the 2004 Boston Red Sox who came back to beat the NYY in the 2004 ALCS.
Unfortunately for Cardinal games, those Red Sox beat the Cardinals in a 4-game sweep in the WS to break the 86 year Bambino Curse
Red Sox previous WS championship had been 1918 .
Brewers look to be 41 of 42 times and possibly the 32nd team to lose in a 4-game streak. We will know in about 15 hours.

				the 86 year Bambino Curse
That win provided maybe the best Nike ad ever despite the Cards being on the losing side.

I like you, Dan, but a pox upon your house for reminding me of the friggin' '04 Red Sox. Their historic comeback agaings the
Evil Empire Yankees was great, but they proceeded to sweep what was arguably the best Cardinal team ever fielded. That still hurts.

Agree, Brummer, the 2004 team was great. But was it better than the 1985 team? 1985 had better starting pitching, 2004 MV3 (plus Walker, Renteria, Sanders) was better offense.

Viscerally.
It was like a nightmare that never ended.

In the 2004 WS the Cardinals were without Chris Carpenter, Steve Kline, and PlaysWithKnives Matheny. Rolen and Edmonds batted a combined 1 for 30, a single. Albert was Albert. The Sox scored in the first inning of every game.

That's a really good point. I've often said that 1985 was my
favorite Cardinal team of all. From wire-to-wire, the 2004 team was the best. The 1985 team started slowly. The first six weeks of the season was almost like extended spring training. But after that they replaced Lonnie Smith with Coleman in left (initially due to injury), got their post-Sutter bullpen roles established, and John Tudor made an adjustment, going 20-1 the rest of the season after a 1-7 start. After mid-May? Best Cardinals team ever. Great starting pitching. Deep bullpen. Best fielding team in the majors. Best offense in the NL.

I thought the cardinals themselves had coughed up a 3-0 lead 2 different times in a 7 game series, but seems there are several 3-1 blown series?

Ugh, Cardinals blowing 3-1 series leads:
1968 World Series against the Tigers (I am too young to remember this, but it still haunts me)
1985 World Series against the Royals (the Royals had good pitching, but a very weak lineup; if they had won, the Cardinals would have set a record for the lowest team batting average for a WS winner. A disaster waiting to happen)
1996 NLCS against the defending WS Champion Braves (they were the better team, but still)
2012 NLCS against the Giants (coming off the amazing 2011 WS, Matheny had the team one win away from going back, but Barry Zito (!) pitched the greatest game of his time with the Giants, and Lance Lynn had one of his "Lynnings" to send the series back to SF, where the great Marco Scutaro (!) took over. Stupid loss)
Am I missing any?!
