Teoscar Hernandez sure would've been a nice FA signing

1-year $23 million free agent deal for 2024 with the Dodgers with $8 million deferred.

Now making $66 million on a subsequent 3-year deal this year with the Dodgers. He has had a lot of big hits and HRs for LA.

Now maybe he wouldn't have signed with the Cardinals in the 2023-24 offseason. But did the Cardinals even make a run at him?

I agree, but I can't believe 1) he would have come here, and 2) the Cards could outbid the Dodgers.

He is fun to watch, hell of a ball player. Coming up on 10 years of service time and has put together a really nice career. Easy guy to root for.

If only it were totally up to the Cardinals to just sign someone.

I can answer the last question. John Mozeliak wasn't making that offer. Since the end of 2021, he has done the bare minimum. Lazy as can be. What a putz.

He's one of those players who is a lot more valuable than his WAR shows, because he does something we need so badly - hits for power from the OF.

Also he hits in the playoffs. People constantly underestimate the value of playoff experience, yet that is one of the biggest reasons the Dodgers are dominating.

LMAO...1.5 WAR...replacement level

Doesn't get on base, doesn't walk, doesn't steal bases, plays bad defense...are you a chick?

He's one of those guys that's good to have on your roster IF you have star level talent around him. No one is going to build a team around Teoscar Hernandez. If the Cardinals had signed him they would still be in the same situation......TH is not the type of player to carry a franchise and in LA he doesn't have to.

That must be bWAR. His fWAR in 2025 was 0.6. 8O

Still some idiots here who don't know a winning player when they see one.

He would have been just what the doctor ordered and I said so at the time.

He was adamant about wanting to stay a dodger. Also, nothing easier than making a point with hindsight on your side.

His fWAR in 2024, his first year with the Dodgers, was 3.4, his wRC+ was 132 , and he hit 33 HRs and had 99 RBIs. And even in a down year this year, he had 25 HRs and 89 RBIs. And he slugged .501 and .454 the last 2 years, something the Cardinals were sorely lacking at.

But postseason is where he has really shined. In 28 games, he has 9 HRs and 26 RBIs. And a wRC+ of 138.

I guess that would not be good enough for the Cardinals, according to some on this forum.

I was also disappointed that they didn't sign him after 2023.

Maybe for some.

He's what the team has needed for years a productive corner OF who hits RH.

Wanting to stay a Dodger is fine but it doesn't change the need for such a player.
