I think if you can put a team on the field that you can project to win somewhere in the 90-94 range, then you can consider yourself good enough to win it all. The goal should be to develop the organization to the point that we can expect to win 90-94 year after year. Not 85.

I agree with the first two posts here.

If the Cardinals had somehow snuck into the postseason, as the Reds kind of did, their pitching would not have carried them far.

However, for future seasons as this rebuild continues, just sneaking in might be a sign of progress, provided subsequent moves are made to continue to strengthen the roster.

Here's looking at you, 2028!

As stated before, the goal each season should be to win the division.

The diamond backs also had 4 players who hit 24 or more home runs in the lineup including a monster rookie of the year season from Carroll who also finished 5th in mvp voting they also had a very good 1 and 2 starter when you have all that you can make some noise in the post season

They had 4 players with 24 or more home runs Carroll had a monster rookie of the year season and was 5th in MVP voting and a good 1 and 2 starter they were far from a [shirt]ty team. If you’ve got a good 1 and 2 starter with all the days off in the post season and a good offense you can make some noise

Search WS champ by payroll rank and you will see. Unfortunately it only shows opening day payroll rank and to see final rank you have to check individually. KC and Miami were only 2 outside of top 10 since 1990 and it’s getting worse. None in last 15 years. Payroll has a direct link to winning a WS. No one cares about just making the playoffs of going to a NLCS or winning the NLC or sneaking into wild card. The goal is WS champion. When they expand playoffs in new CBA more than half the teams will get in but only 4-6 per year will have a chance to win

This is definitely what BDW has been pushing to the fans, and I'm sure many fans are gullible enough to buy in to his philosophy. They'll probably add another 2 wildcards in each league next year so BDW can push this into existence.

The fact is you can't win if you don't get in. Once you get in anyone can win a best of 3, 5 or 7 games series. If you don't think so then you are sincerely oblivious.
