Deciding game in Milwaukee today and the winner plays LA in the NLCS. Both teams will start relievers - the cubs start LH Pomeranz, and the Brewers will begin with Megill.

Starting the game with "openers" is essentially the same as starting the game with relievers. No one will expect Megill or Pomeranz to pitch more than 1 or 2 innings tops. Mis and Imanaga will likely be used eventually, and I expect to see Rea also.Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 14:31 pm I’d consider it more like they’re both using openers. I think Misiorowski & Imanaga are both on 4 days rest.
I wouldn’t call a game that uses an opener a “bullpen game”. Of course openers are basically relievers, but unless they’re planning on using a reliever every inning or two, it really isn’t a bullpen game.12xu wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 14:46 pmStarting the game with "openers" is essentially the same as starting the game with relievers. Glad to see the cubs lose unfortunately the brewers will lose to the dodgers12xu wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 21:43 pm Young Abner in the bottom of the 9th only needs to retire Suzuki, Happ, and Kelly to get Milwaukee to the NLCS.
He gets the first two to fly out, and now Kelly grounds out to SS for the final out.....goodbye cubbies!
The Brewers now get the Dodgers to come to Milwaukee for the first game on Monday.
Indeed. Both teams have good managers, and the FO in Milwaulkee does amazing work with a small budget. Ownership here should take note and quit whining about budgets. Hopefully Bloom can turn this ship around. I wish he would start in the dugout, but that isn't happening....
Well the odds are heavily in favor of LA, but just remember - nobody figured the 1960 Pirates could beat the Yankees, or the '69 Mets could beat the Orioles, and of course some smart feller picked the Tigers to beat the Cardinals in the 2006 WS in three games!Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 21:49 pmGlad to see the cubs lose unfortunately the brewers will lose to the dodgers12xu wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 21:43 pm Young Abner in the bottom of the 9th only needs to retire Suzuki, Happ, and Kelly to get Milwaukee to the NLCS.
