We aren’t. We only hope that BDW will want to operate differently.
He would be wise to reconsider. Because he’s find ing out the hard way that 2(or 3 million, rather) can play at that gameJuanAgosto wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 20:25 pmDoubt ol Bill suddenly decides to open the wallet.Whatashame wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 20:24 pm

He is going to be under the same, if not tighter budgetary constraints as MO was. We are just hoping he uses those dollars more efficiently. If he does great. If not, by the end of 2027, Bloom will be considered the worst hiring ever on this board.
If he makes sensible moves, he should be given 3 seasons to prove his work. If at the end of 2028, the farm system hasn't improved and the big club still has holes, then I think criticism is fair.
Three might be fair, but he won't get that long. We are likely getting our third top 10 first round pick in a row this up coming draft. If the team is poor again next year, could be 4 in a row. If yes, by 2027, the farm system should be righted and the team should be competitive in 2028. Mo has actually left the overall franchise in decent shape.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025 23:13 pmIf he makes sensible moves, he should be given 3 seasons to prove his work. I think that's fair-if by some miracle there is a 2027 season reasonably uninterrupted by the CBA negotiations. And we have a competent manager in place.ICCFIM2 wrote: ↑30 Sep 2025 00:27 amThree might be fair, but he won't get that long. They have 2 high end prospects in Wetherholdt and Doyle.
They also finally have a lot of high ceiling prospects in the system instead of just low ceiling high floor guys. In particular, Rainel Rodriguez, Yairo Padilla and Josh Baez.
Also, Bloom has players on the ML roster that can be converted into a high end prospects. My expectation from Bloom is that he gets a ML ready SP prospect who is a #2 profile this offseason and at least 2 more prospects that will be in our top 10 as they readjust the current roster. By the end of 2026 after the draft next year, the Cards should have 5-10 guys knocking on the door in 2027 that can help this team. If they are not there, then he is failing. He has a base to work with. The 2027 team should be pushing for a playoff spot even without free agent additions. By 2028, they should have the pieces in place.
